lag in certain instances and not in others (please help)

this problem has been getting bad ever since ob for me. i dont know what is wrong or how to find a solution. basically what happens is this:

most of the time my latency is between 60 to 100. but mostly during what might be peak hours 5pm eastern to 12am eastern i start to lag in some instances and not in others. what i mean is: sometimes even when i logon i will enter a town instance where my lag will either spike to 1000 to 2000ms or it will flat line and then nothing will respond. i cant use wp cant open stash cant engage vendors nothing. and then all i can do is log out and log back in and then i'll be dump into another different town instance and then my lag will be back to 60 to 100ms and i'll be fine.

this also happens in some lab instances and not others. sometimes i get stuck in loading screen cuz the game wont even load into the instance due to this lag and i'll have to restart the client completely because there is no way for me to get back to the login menu. then sometimes i'll actually load into the lab but my lag flatlines to 0 and again i cant do anything or interact with anything so have to logout. then if i log back in and load a few more lab instances i'll eventually create a lab instance where my lag is again normal at 60 to 100.

this is especially extremely frustrating because half of the maps that i run i can't play on due to this instance lag issue. some maps i'll go into them and i'll perfectly fine at 60 to 100ms. some maps i cant even get past load screen or if i do actually get past load screen again my lag flatline to 0 and i cant do anything even the tp is not there. so i have logout.

there is no pattern to the instances in which i lag. it's completely random. in various game area before end game and maps this happens too. so when i'm on quest and i load into a new area sometimes i lag and i cant interact with anything so have to logout and then when i come back and load a new instance of the area the lag will be fine again at 60 to 100ms.

again this is completely randomly. when i was doing ledge runs some ledge instances will lag and i cant do anything and some will be perfectly fine. and i've tested by going back into same instance that lagged me and made me have to logout and it doesnt change i just lag on that instance and when i make a new instance i eventually get into an instance that doesnt lag at all.

i have no idea what is causing this. it's like some of the instances r being handle by a server that i lag terribly on and some instances r handled by another server that i'm perfectly fine on.

is there any way for me to figure out what is wrong and determine a fix. because this problem is extremely frustrating as it make the game almost unplayable for me.

I have the exact same problem!

I have exactly the same issue, its extremely frustrating I have died on hardcore 7 times in open beta on high level characters because of this. Quite frankly im about to throw in the towel even though I love this game.
I'm having the exact same problem. I played in CB and never had this problem; it's extremely frustrating! Can the DEVs confirm this is a real issue? Are there any steps being taken to address this? What's causing this relatively new problem?
Well I was interested in what was happening on a very basic (networking) level so I took a few minutes to record some interesting results.

Now I don't clam to have a full grasp on how networking is done in something as complex as a game such as path of exile but I noticed a few oddities:

Firstly, you log in to path of exile and you see your characters and stuff before actually getting in game, your computer has probably made a TCP (a protocol that will guarantee packets are delivered, really not that important) connection; it probably looks something similar to this:

Local Address:
192.168.1.X <== private ip, your ip (in this case, a class C /24 address)

Foreign Address:
173.192.25.25 or 173.192.12.41:20481 <- address they use for login server it seems, again, not really important

When you get in game, you'll connect to the game server and the Foreign Address you're connected to changes, say to perhaps: "173.192.25.29:48243"

Now here it gets interesting. It seems that EVERY time you enter a new zone(say you use a WP to go from Watch to the Ledge), you establish a different and new TCP connection. This is important because say you were connected to "173.192.25.29:48243" and everything was nice and lag free, smooth as a bell. Well this new instance you create forwards you to "173.192.12.55:50755" which, in my testing, was so abhorrently laggy that you spike to 5k+ ping and cannot move or use any skills and after 20+ seconds or so get disconnected and shot back to "173.192.12.41:20481" (login). Annoying right?

From what I can tell, this seems like a hardware issue, perhaps various servers are being taxed too much or their load balancing is all screwed up as it appears to be a crap shoot when entering new instances and getting forwarded to a new IP (server?)... I say this because some of the connections are quite stable (low ping) and others are... well, not.

In any case, here was a few minutes of creating new instances are recording connection stability (and how I came to my conclusion, using cmd-> "Netstat -n"):
