It has +15%ele resists, a jewell slots, some good armor and life rolls, totem life + cast and placement speed even movespeed...
I think it has good arguments vs quick recovery, the jewell slot near curses nodes and devotion, that you could refund to get those ones.

On the first look i see that the path needs 17 pts, you would cut 13 pts for it.
while doing it we loose 20% life and 1 jewel (which also can/should have at least 5% life).
The "extra" 4 pts could be spend in armour mastery, too.
The problem with ironwood is that it needs too many traveling points, while we have too many good nodes nearby that dont need any traveling.

Ironwood alone needs 5 pts for basically just 20% dmg + 20% totem life + 10% placementspeed.

for 5 pts we get, depending on the slots, 2 jewels, eventually for 6 pts.
2 jewel should have 24% totem life, easily 25+% dmg and/or player life (up to 14%).

12% totem life + dmg roll (fire/totem/all dmg/degen/aoe) is 1c each.
A second damage roll can be pretty vheap too.

player life on jewels has its price of course.

What about putting Fire Penetration gem to RF when you'll get those fire-immune totems? Before that it's a waste, but after the ascension... might boost the damage immensely. Sorry if someone has mentioned that already.

Penetration only affects hits, which notably excludes damage over time effects.
