"Deceiver" Renegade disappeared himself into oblivion

Spawned the Shadow "Deceiver" renegade (that smoke mines and makes lots of duplicates of himself) in a corrupted zone. he walked up to me, then smoke mined / teleported away; I chased and realized that he had completely disappeared! I searched the whole instance and am 100% sure he wasn't hiding somewhere (it was a small, simple, linear instance).
