how long is disconnection time after a dc

As stated in title.

playing hc atm and bad weather is playing havoc with my connection. Dc regularly and i am worried that one of them will get my char killed off.

So i wondered if the time it takes to then dc from the server is very low (say less that 1-2 secs) or not. If it is quick then i may be able to risk it in some places.
