disconnections

Hi

I have disconnection problems since i am in jazztel. this is my traceroute info and i found too many data lost 24% in 57.217.106.212.static.jazztel.es
Any idea?
I have tobe 1 year with jazztel XD

The 5th hop just has a rate limit/load balancing filter for ICMP Time Exceeded packets, since all the traffic after that is not lost. The destination has no packet loss.

The real issue I see is a bit of latency. 569 ms worst reply on hop 2 seems pretty bad, and the latency continues to the destination. Since you've done a huge sample, the average doesn't let us estimate how many packets lagged, so please run another trace with 300 cycles (5 minutes) instead of 27737 (~8 hours).

Do you connect to the router with an ethernet cable? There might also be a small problem with that as well, since there was a packet of 51 ms to your modem/router. Is it wireless? It's fine for wireless, but I always recommend using a solid cable connection for gaming.

Firstly, thanks for your time Ionface

I think that the higher disconnection rate is at the evening i will try to post another traceroute later.

I use ethernet cable always.

Hmm, do you have another (better looking) ethernet cord with which to plug your computer into the router?

I notice your MTRs are tracing all the way to www.pathofexile.com instead of eu.login.pathofexile.com or lon.login.pathofexile.com, the gateways you'd be using.

Looks like your ISP jazztel is having issues. And it's within their local network before it leaves to another access point.

I doubt anything you could do on your end would help since your first hop to your local CO is fine. You'd want to contain Jazztel (I assume you're in Spain?) to work out those issues.

Where? You mean the nodes with ICMP packet loss? I don't see any problems past that, so it's safe to say they're just congested and only dropping ICMP traffic.
There's something a bit off about the route there. As with Ionface, I'd like to see the results to the EU gateways.

One of his trace logs shows local latency, and the others show latency and packet loss further down the line. He only has packet loss 4 or 5 hops in.

I did notice the first log, but assume the local issue had been dealt with since the following to WinMTR results didn't show that problem. Maybe I shouldn't have assume that. Will wait for the OP on that one.

The packet loss shown in the other two, I think, are examples of traffic mitigation coming into play.

In the 2nd set of results, midway through the route:

| 218.216.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 0 | 300 | 300 | 36 | 40 | 63 | 38 |
| 57.217.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 36 | 125 | 81 | 36 | 37 | 43 | 37 |
| 253.216.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 1 | 296 | 295 | 36 | 39 | 68 | 45 |
| 142.216.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 0 | 300 | 300 | 63 | 82 | 150 | 64 |

There is packet loss, as you saw, but it goes away afterwards. and at the destination:

| 14.2c.c0ad.ip4.static.sl-reverse.com - 0 | 300 | 300 | 170 | 172 | 182 | 172 |

The latency is high, but there is no packet loss. So those to hops were probably just dropping icmp packets as Ionface suggested.

Same thing with the 3rd set of results:

| 218.216.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 0 | 342 | 342 | 36 | 43 | 112 | 39 |
| 57.217.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 49 | 116 | 60 | 0 | 37 | 47 | 37 |
| 253.216.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 28 | 162 | 117 | 36 | 37 | 55 | 37 |
| 142.216.106.212.static.jazztel.es - 0 | 342 | 342 | 63 | 66 | 109 | 65 |

The packet loss shows up but is gone on later hops, and not showing at the destination:

| 14.2c.c0ad.ip4.static.sl-reverse.com - 0 | 342 | 342 | 171 | 172 | 180 | 172 |

So I'd bet on traffic mitigation.

I am concerned about the latency spikes still being higher than they should after it passes his local router.

| 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 300 | 300 | 0 | 0 | 10 | 1 |
| 1.176.16.95.dynamic.jazztel.es - 0 | 300 | 300 | 29 | 34 | 140 | 29 |

| 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 342 | 342 | 0 | 0 | 20 | 0 |
| 1.176.16.95.dynamic.jazztel.es - 0 | 342 | 342 | 29 | 34 | 106 | 30 |

To see spikes like that so early in the route makes me think there may be something going on with the router still, despite the improvement over the first WinMTR result.
