Starcraft 2 Legacy of the Void is so extremely fun to watch!

This match-up from between PartinG, a korean vs the "foreigner" Showtime from Germany:

There's this new Protoss unit called Disruptor which can fire spirit bombs which can obliterate so many units.

Blizzard has really up their game. I've watched a lot of Heart of the Swarm, which was great but the new units they've put into LotV are really genius and unbelievably really fun.

I enjoy this somewhat, but honestly it feels really bland when i compare it with old WC3 TFT games.

No creep spots to farm, no experience trade-offs to account for, no hero's to tip that experience scale etc.

It's basically waiting for the blink to fail, or one of the players to just go "lets end this" and then either fail or deliver.

Then i look back at old TFT games where people decided games by loop-holing a high tier creep map and getting that sweet loot drop to use or sell(and bank up).

Or not denying that unit to the opponent granting him that next lvl on his hero's etc.

It appears to me there was a lot more meta depth in that game then the current starcraft.

Fun to watch the micro, but the mistakes aren't nearly as punishing as they should be imo, obviously that's also because it's a mirror game. sort of extends the tid-for-tat gameplay which is rather dull to view.

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
the game itself looks fun enough, but I also watched the cinematic and the ending on Youtube... and... *face palm*.

I loved the story in Starcraft 1, and its ending was absolutely spectacular.
but that was Blizzard. they had the Midas Touch.
now... it's Activision.

*sigh* just the way the world goes, I guess.
from people making games they would play the hell out of, to giant corporations who don't give a fuck.
from passion and creativity, to re-cycling and cheesefest.
from good old George Lucas, to Michael fucking Bay...

While I do agree that on this match it was a matter of somebody failing to blink. This starcraft2 expansion was just released about 3 weeks ago, therefore players have only scratched the surface of the possibilities. I'm sure somebody will come up with something that can counter the stalker/disruptor/tempest composition on a PvP.

I assume the top korean players have only begun exploring LotV. As they've been busy with Blizcon 2015 SC2 world championship (which had an epic historical final series, a match between 2013 and 2014 champions).

In case somebody might wanna watch more of LotV. I recommend watching:

TY vs PartinG, a Zerg vs Protoss match

The most epic pro-match so far in Legacy of the Void, but certainly a classic.

I'll unfortunately have to agree.

I played Brood War for years. I was still watching and enjoying Brood War games over 10 years later. SC2? I got bored of playing it in 2-3 months and stopped watching the pros in a year or so. Bland. Uninspiring. Recycled. Divided in three parts to grab more money. Generic and unconvincing plot recycling the same themes over and over.

meh...

The old Blizzard produced the most iconic games in history. The new Blizzard - Activision turned them into franchises and crapped all over them. I vowed not to give them a single dollar after D3.
The Wheel of Nerfs turns, and builds come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the build that gave it birth comes again.
