Dying wlan?

Got a Zyxel WLAN modem over 2 years, warranty (of cooooourse) went up 6 months ago.

Used to get 75mbs speed tests from my isp 100mbs deal, fair enough,
but now it's been under 10mbs a few days and after calling my isp support they figured out the modem is probably busted and I need a new one.

How can it still work at lower speeds if it's broken?
Like, did some wires in it melt or what?
Anyone care to enlighten me on the +60mbs connection loss?

did you google "yourModemType connection problem"?

you're right, it really sounds weird that just the speed goes down.

edit:
from all of the things i can imagine for a modem to go broke:

- your provider exchanged his tech (which your modem is communicating with) and your modem isn't working well with that new device on the other side

- provider fucked up some firmware update (nowadays they're done remotely mostly)

- if you are connected over wireless it can be the case your neighbours also got wireless and now the modems are competing for available bandwith

- provider has got too many customers in his area and can't update his bandwith because he has to feed his shareholders first
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Which modem is it? The model name should be on the label.

Sometimes modems die. Sometimes there's a splitter or length of cable that's to blame for issues. Sometimes the ISP has downgraded the entire block and doesn't bother to tell you, sometimes they don't even know. ISP tech support is wrong about half the time. So let's look at the logs ourselves.

To check the modem logs, you usually need to access it with a web browser:
  • Plug your computer directly into the modem
  • Wait a minute for the network connection to automatically adjust
  • Go to http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1
  • Type admin as the username
  • The password is usually written on the bottom of the modem, but it could be 1234 or something else by default
  • Find the logs and copy them to a pastebin.com, then put the pastebin link here.

Sometimes they just outright throttle your bandwidth. (Lookin at you AT&T) >:(

Okay, which modem is it? Do you have cable TV service with a cable internet? DSL? It's hard to diagnose this without any information.

Let's get an MTR report too please. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1377789
If a modem starts busting you usually have unexpected disconnections followed by a reconnect.

Giving your the Log Data I'd rather say it's an issue with the powersupply and possibly the battery save(if it's going to factory reset)

It's a ZyXEL P-870HN-51b VDSL2/ADSL2+ Wireless

My service deal is cable internet 100mb/10mb DL/UL.

Don't have any trouble playing games, but streaming and videos got some extra loading time,
and my speed tests are still below 10mbs.

I did reset the modem to factory settings as my isp supporter suggested while troubleshooting,
and posted this after the reset.

Had no dc issues in a long time, and still connecting well.

Do you have filters on telephone devices in your building? Is there a filter-splitter between the modem and the wall?

How do the phone cords look? Flat/Round? Long? Frayed/Kinked? Do the connectors have any jiggle to them, or are they snug in the sockets?
