Path of Maps - Track your map runs

Updates (see below for description)

May 26

Big release! A new, better, desktop app is now available. Still a beta, but check it out and tell me what you think in this thread! (download it here.)

^ Big shoutout to Decimar for building it!

10,000 map run anniversary \o/

January 19 Update

It's been released a while back but whatever, there's now a search bar at the top: http://i.imgur.com/kWcVFuA.png

If you're interested, you can look at this short doc to learn how to use it: http://pathofmaps.com/maps#search-help

---

An export feature is going to be released soon, allowing you to import all your data in google spreadsheets.

---

A bunch of new commands have been added (afk, reopen...), and you can now record talisman drops.

I'm playing with a new search feature:

-------- End updates --------

Hey!

You might have seen my post on reddit yesterday (skip this if that's the case ;), but I'm going to repost here to have a lasting place to talk about the site, post bug reports, feedback etc.

-----------

I built a new site, it's in early beta, and it's called Path of Maps

------------

tl;dr

Path of Maps allows you to track your maps runs (basic map data + map drops + notes...).

It looks something like that:

(yep, it looks like Trello ^^, but anyways...).

You can build a collection of all the maps you're running. All you have to do is write a few commands in the in-game chat.

In future releases you can expect personal and community-level stats on map runs.

Go download the desktop app, register on Path of Maps and try it!

----------------

Here's how it works

Here you have a choice: spend 3 minutes of your life watching this video I made to show you how it works, or read the following paragraph.

On a typical PoE session, here's what you'd do:

- run a small desktop app (that's looking for special commands in your PoE logs). It's open source of course so check it out if you're suspicious ;)
- roll your map, then copy it (hover over it in your inventory, and press `Ctrl + C`)
- Input the start command in the game chat: `> start`, or just `>s`
- the desktop app will send this command, along with the map data to the Path of Maps server, and a new map like this one will appear in your profile!
- during your run, you can edit the current map, and add drops (`> drop 13 79`, tier or level, whatever), add notes (`> note friend was killed by a white sea witch hahaha`)...
- then, end the run with `> end`

There's more to it, but that's the idea.

-------------

What's next?

After this initial release, I plan to build...

* an advanced search
* stats (about your runs and those of the whole community), so that you can see your tier progression, for instance.
* exports to CSV or Google Spreadsheets

Right now, it's just a fun list to look at. Main goal is to fix bugs.

-------------

Why use it?

- it's easier than alt-tab-ing and adding data to a spreadsheet
- you get a cool looking, public page listing all your map runs
- with data coming from the whole community, we can build really cool stats (if the site is successful, I'll build an api so you can build your own stats)
- if you like lists and collecting stuff
- to make people with bad RNG jealous

-----------------

It's a beta!

- And by beta, I mean alpha 0.0.1. So please report ALL THE BUGS in this topic or PM me on reddit!
- If you like this project and want to get involved, as a beta tester or else, you can join this Slack channel, or go to the community page on pathofmaps.com (github account required for this one). The desktop app needs a lot of love.

That's it, please let me know what you think, and enjoy!

Currently working on a way to send more types of drops.

Right now, you can just send the command "> drop 10 12" to indicate you dropped 2 maps of tier 10 and 12.
The next update will allow you to copy items likes uniques, divination cards, currency and maps to your clipboard and just type ">drop" (or ">d"), and the drop will be sent to pathofmaps.com and recorded :)

Sounds interesting, but, will it work? It only makes sense if you record consistently ALL your maps, because otherwise you are prone to selection effects biasing statistics. Also, what do you do about unique maps and cartoboxes?
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.

Oh man, been waiting for something like this.

Got so many stats that took ages to collect (and then the map system was changed) This will make it much easier to collect data.

Good work, will try it out once I get back to mapping again,.
Note pad. Pen. I'm good.
Here's a new feature I'm experimenting with! You'll be able to copy (ctrl+c while hovering over the item) valuable items then type ">drop" or ">d", and the actual item will show up on the site :)

It's not fully ready yet though. Also, I'd probably need to find a better way than having to type ">d", it gets annoying pretty fast. Maybe some kind of autohotkey script...

Sweet, let me know how it goes :)

You are right. The overall statistics might not be super accurate or representative of all the maps that are run. That being said, if you decide to record all your maps, then your own statistics will be accurate, and that's interesting to some :)

Not sure how to handle cartoboxes where you get a lot of maps. I don't think there's a miracle solution here, you'd have to enter all the maps lvl with "> drop 10 11 11 9 12"...

Check out the "86" in the top right hand corner. You can now indicate if you leveled up in a map by using the command: "> ding 86" (or "> lvlup 86" if you prefer).

This way, you can keep track of how many maps you ran to level up.

I was not able to get this to work for my most recent level. The first option '> ding 88' recorded as a map tier 8 drop, and put the icon for the Orchard map under the colored number box map drop row(Like the screenshot where you talk about getting specific drops to show on the site). I also tried with '> ding level 88' the results were the same.

The second option '> lvlup 88' did nothing. In the end I just added it in as a note the way I had been for the other levels I have gained while using this tracker, '> note Ding Level 88'

It is possible I am not doing something correctly as I still have issues manually entering a monster level for my Zana daily and wild missions.

Thanks for the report, I think this is fixed (found the bug this morning). I added a test so that it shouldn't happen again. I'll try it myself later (probably tomorrow... thanksgiving and all) to make sure it works :)

ps: I'll fix your map later ;)

-------

New little feature this morning (again, haven't tried it for real): the master command.

It allows you to log your encounters with masters, and a little icon will pop up on the map with the master's initials.

You can find a better description here, but basically you would just type > master zana, or the shorthand version > m za (you can use the first 2 letters of the master name only).
