Act 2 last boss get killed while the mission has not yet complete

Hi
My frd dc while we were fighting the last boss in act, after i killed the boss, then he reconnected and he still hasn't finish the quest of killing the last boss. If you aren't inside when the boss dies you don't get credit.
Very unfortunate. "If they actually showed gameplay with it zoomed out and then zoomed it in for the real one I think there would be actual riots in the street. I think that people would burn the building down."
