Consistent High Ping
Hello GGG staff,
Since i finished my semester at Uni i wanted to play some races but to my shock the Australian gateway is always above 300 ping. I tried to race and my experience was horrible so i quit after the first race and i assumed that my ISP had a small issue in my area so i waited for the next day. I still had 300+ ping the next day so i assumed the problem would take longer to solve. Come 4 days later and my ping is still the same. I ran WinMTR and found that the issue is further down the line. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 19 | 19 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | | 10.20.23.79 - 0 | 18 | 18 | 22 | 25 | 40 | 24 | | mail.rubin.com.au - 0 | 18 | 18 | 24 | 30 | 57 | 27 | | 1G203-219-107-117-nsw.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 18 | 18 | 47 | 51 | 56 | 47 | | 203-219-106-198.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 18 | 18 | 49 | 53 | 59 | 50 | | 203-219-155-67.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 18 | 18 | 46 | 53 | 97 | 49 | | as36351.melbourne.pipenetworks.com - 0 | 18 | 18 | 343 | 350 | 378 | 347 | | ae5.dar01.mel01.networklayer.com - 0 | 18 | 18 | 340 | 346 | 372 | 343 | | po1.fcr01b.mel01.networklayer.com - 0 | 18 | 18 | 342 | 345 | 358 | 344 | | speedtest.mel01.softlayer.com - 0 | 18 | 18 | 339 | 342 | 353 | 341 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider I want this issue to be resolved before the new league starts so you guys can get paid by my shallow but generous pockets via supporter packs. What can i do to resolve this issue? Thanks. |

While your latency isn't great in general right here:
| 203-219-155-67.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 18 | 18 | 46 | 53 | 97 | 49 | | as36351.melbourne.pipenetworks.com - 0 | 18 | 18 | 343 | 350 | 378 | 347 | That's where the problem happens. Notice how the numbers for best worst and average response times make huge leaps? Could you run a much longer tests. 18 isn't enough to get a complete picture. Try letting it run 500 cycles or more. Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet? |

" Ok, sorry and yes, i noticed the Melbourne line is most likely the cause. I will post a longer duration of the ping test. Edit: here you go. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 504 | 504 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 2 | | 10.20.23.79 - 0 | 504 | 504 | 21 | 28 | 115 | 23 | | mail.rubin.com.au - 0 | 504 | 504 | 21 | 31 | 263 | 22 | | 1G203-219-107-117-nsw.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 504 | 504 | 47 | 56 | 144 | 53 | | 203-219-106-198.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 504 | 504 | 48 | 57 | 146 | 54 | | 203-219-155-67.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 504 | 504 | 46 | 54 | 351 | 47 | | as36351.melbourne.pipenetworks.com - 0 | 503 | 503 | 340 | 347 | 438 | 341 | | ae5.dar01.mel01.networklayer.com - 0 | 503 | 503 | 335 | 342 | 433 | 336 | | po1.fcr01b.mel01.networklayer.com - 0 | 503 | 503 | 340 | 347 | 436 | 342 | | speedtest.mel01.softlayer.com - 0 | 503 | 503 | 336 | 342 | 435 | 337 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider Last edited by darklordof1 on Nov 14, 2015, 9:53:16 PM

Still the same problem dude:
| 203-219-106-198.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 504 | 504 | 48 | 57 | 146 | 54 | | 203-219-155-67.tpgi.com.au - 0 | 504 | 504 | 46 | 54 | 351 | 47 | | as36351.melbourne.pipenetworks.com - 0 | 503 | 503 | 340 | 347 | 438 | 341 | these three hops just before the handover to GGGs service provider are the part of the trace where your lag kicks in. In the space of those 3 hops the average latency jumps almost 300ms. Nothing GGG can do with this one. I'd recommend doing a trace to the Singapore gateway to see if those hops are avoided, or maybe try using a VPN to get around them. Otherwise you're stuck having a moan at your ISP, they might be experiencing high loads or something, but that's not really an excuse for providing service not consistent with what you're paying them for. == Officially Retired 27/02/2019 ==
Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years. Best of luck in the future! |

Alright thanks.
I just wanted to make sure that this was a problem that was specifically related to my ISP. Well, looks like i gotta call India up and ask some questions/let them know about the situation. |
