Latency spikes, not constant. Also packet loss across the board.

My WinMTR Output: http://pastebin.com/TVH9EEsD

Who should I contact in this case? I have wired verizon FIOS at 75/75. But it looks like a lot of the packet loss is coming from level3. But it starts at verizon.

I have tried the following:

Switching PC's
Reinstalling POE on a SSD
Switching cables
Restarting modem
Restarting demarc
Port forwarding
Disabling firewall
Switching gateways to Texas
Checking for firmware upgrades on router (there were none)
Playing during different times of day/night

My game will be fine. I want to stress that **IN TOWN MY LATENCY IS PERFECTLY FINE AND IT NEVER SPIKES**. When I start fighting it spikes to about 350 for a second or two, every 10-20 seconds. This makes it tough to play.

PoE wasn't always like this. My physical hardware has not changed.

Someone please read this. There is an issue where verizon fios is screwing it's customers up the butt when it comes to ALTER.NET. ALTER.NET is owned by verizon and it bottlenecks connections.

Some proof:

So here's my question to GGG: Is there anything you guys can do for me? Or do I have to actually cancel my fucking ISP just to play this game? I understand if it's not a GGG problem but I shouldn't have to switch ISP just to play a game.

Unfortunately, being a business on the internet puts you at the mercy of the providers, just like being a brick and mortar store at the mercy of the city and their infrastructure.

If the city doesn't build proper roads, both the customer and business feel the pain. GGG doesn't want you to have issues, but it's not likely they can actually do anything about it either. They're at the same mercy you are with the providers.

Best bet is to escalate the issue with your provider. Good luck.
yeah they're not going to do anything, they pretty much told me 3 different times now.

cool.

on to the next game, maybe ill get bottlenecked then too.

later, PoE.

Then I'd be looking for a different provider... unless being on Verizon FIOS is more important to you than playing PoE or possibly other things which route through ALTER and would have the same issues.

The internet is much like the roads in a city. It takes certain routes to get from your house to wherever your destination is... just like if you were to drive to different places. Go to the store and you take one set of roads. Go to the Library and take a different set of roads.

In your case, you have a specific road that has either maintenance on it, or has some type of traffic issues. Difference between your driving and the internet however is that when you're driving, you can take an alternate route. Your packets won't unless someone programs them at the switches to.

So being on Verizon means that anything that routes through ALTER can experience the same issue... not just PoE.
Contact the FCC it's very likely that Verizon identifies you permanent connection as "streaming" and they want to see more money.

Net Neutrality is a bitch.

It not unlikely switching to AT&T, Comcast or other ISP will do any better.
IIRC there already has been a dispute between comcast and netflix.
i've been having this exact same problem with verizon since november 9th

If it is due to net neutrality then i smell a lawsuit coming, PoE dsoen't use much in the way of bandwidth and they should be able to tell the difference between that and video streaming.
