Windowed fullscreen doesn't work correctly with a vertical taskbar

My taskbar is on the left side of the screen, and if I run the game in windowed fullscreen, the game window is shifted by the width of the taskbar, so I still see it, and the right side of the game is outside the screen. I'm pretty sure this bug has been around since beta, any workaround for this besides having to move my taskbar while playing?

As an update, on my Win8 laptop (1920x1080), I can bypass this by moving the taskbar to the bottom before running the game, then I can switch it back with no issues.

If I do it on my Win7 desktop (1280x1024), when I switch the taskbar back to vertical, the game resolution magically switches to 1280x920, which makes the taskbar appear above the game and creates a gap at the bottom of the screen.
