[Known Issue] Deutsche Telekom

It's been brought to my attention that there have been a lot of new threads created relating the connectivity issues experienced by Deutsche Telekom users connecting to European Path of Exile gateways.

If you are a Deutsche Telekom user, and have been experiencing higher than usual latency and more frequent disconnects, especially during peak times, it's likely that this problem is causing your issues.

What is causing the issue?
There is currently an issue affecting one of Deutsche Telekom's routers (62.157.249.78). There is increased latency and packet loss to this router/hop, which get worse during peak times, indicating over congestion.

Is it something we can fix?
While we are aware of the issue, and are seeking information and some sort of solution, the problem is outside of our, and our providers direct control.

What you can do to help:
  • Follow the instructions from this guide
  • Forward the WinMTR trace through as part of a support request to your ISP

Hopefully if they have enough customers raising this issue, they may be motivated to do something about it.

What about NA issues? I am having the same problems.
Fitzy it is not just the Deutsche Telekom, but an issue that nearly all huge providers with a large user base can create. They don't damage net neutrality because they artificially create a bottleneck and only companys that pay get a way around it through other hops, so they can say 'we experience overload and we are working on it' while, in the meantime, blackmailing companys to make an expensive contracts with them so their users don't jump off because of the problems the huge private userbase company (like the Deutsche Telekom) artificially created.

Other companys that are known to engage in this behaviour (mentioned in this (german) [http://netzneutral.init7.net/de/situation-init7.php] explanation of a smaller swiss provider are: Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, Telecom Italia, Telefonica and UPC; in the USA Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Verizon und AT&T

AND even if you don't have one of these providers (btw, some don't have any other choice, because there is no other provider in the area) it is still possible that you get routed through the problematic connection because many smaller providers just rent the connection of the companys that engage in this behaviour.

(VPN may or may not work as a solution depending on the routing of the VPN.)

To my knowledge the mentioned issue involves not only Deutsche Telekom users,
but most of the European players.

Nevertheless, thanks for acknowledging the issue.

Edit:
Please consider that the same issues have also been reported from:
- Brazil
- Europe (Spain, France, Italy, UK, Ger,...)
- Israel
- United States
- Australia
- Singapore

It might be worth considering your own provider (GGG) causes the issue.

read the third part of my post ...
Oh ... i think the routing was changed. I did a short test with WinMTR and had no packet loss anymore and the router 62.157.249.78 is not in the list :)

its my but i realy not understand this xD
any 1 help ?
Just tested it out. There seems to be less packet loss but still enough to make you stutter, just not as much as before, at least for me.

I don't know where the problem is, but something weird is happening for sure. When I enter an instance the ping sometimes is very high (200-400ms), I portal out, come back and then my ping go normal (50-70ms) sometimes, but it doesn't change until I go out (not recreating the instance, over the same map). Its happening since 2 weeks or so, but today is getting really bad. I'm from spain so no Deutsche Telekom, not sure if the issue is related.
♠RaGoN♦
It seems like these spikes always happen from 8pm to 10 pm (GMT+1). This time I tried to avoid DTAG-routing by using a vpn, doesn't help.

Edit: I finally got a packet back from the dead node: ae-1-3.ear1.Amsterdam1.Level3.net (4.69.153.186)
