For the record I am located in New Zealand and connecting to the Australian hub. The lag makes it impossible to play with lock step on, this is a recent happening as well rather than one that has been going on for a while.

The deterministic model PoE employs is very sensitive to network jitter and if your results are anything to go by then it's no surprise you're having issues.

What I suggest you do is launch command prompt (cmd.exe) and input: ping -t google.com and observe the time data, noting the amount of variation between each sample. A minute or so of data should be sufficient.
