exp loss = backwards progression

lately ive been less motivated to play poe even though i feel the game has never been better
i really want to log in and get my characters closer to max level but for me (a casual grinder) i barely even make any progress because there are so many things that can kill you in this game.i want to kill all the bosses in maps but its a huge risk because ill be going backwards in progression from losing exp, i know the exp loss is part of the game but its leaving me wondering why bother even attempting to kill a map boss because ill end up dying most the time.

i dont even know why im posting this because it wont ever change but i really wish there was another death penalty rather than losing exp.

progression should be hard as this game is made for hc gamers so i dont know what i could suggest instead of exp loss for dying. maybe others who feel exp loss is leaving them less motivated to play could come up with some alternatives in this thread.

Experience loss is not backwards or reverse progression. It is a penalty for playing or attempting something your build is incapable of handling and/or poor player handling.

If you don't want to die, don't play content that your build is vulnerable too.

Inb4: "But I can't stop ____ from being in an area!"

While you cannot stop monster mods and such, you can know that such mods are in the game and plan accordingly. Corrupt Blood can be countered by flasks that remove bleeding. It can also be countered by: traps, mines, minions, party members, and more.

I see you have a 95 and an 84, both of which should reflect that you "should" know how to play the game. If that is the case, everything I've said above should already be known to you.
I dont mind it and i play pretty much glass cannons. How is it fair to ppl that build tanks if i could clear faster and have no penalty for building glassy?

This game is about compromises as im sure you all know by now and death penalty forces more tough choices which makes game interesting

Edit if maps wernt so screwed up and map boss actually drop maps then there would be incintive to kill map boss. as is little to none but self satisfaction and challege. (worst endgame ever)

You're trying to do two incompatible things...

1. Kill the toughest content
2. Stay alive to not lose EXP

You can do one or the other, but not both unless you're very good, or very well kitted! (and even then it is a coin-toss)

IMHO, this is how it should be...
It was 15% exp loss before, now it s 10% per death. What do you want, 5%? 0%? Getting up to 90+ lvl requires skill and knowledge of the game. If you play recklessly or having a shitty gear/build u will suffer of consequences.you play on sc, which I don't mind but when ppl just make this kind of threads I can't help but laugh at that.
i find it rather pathetic having to skip a boss or anything because i run the risk of dying and losing exp but i guess ill have to in the future.

Well:

1. What's your build?

2. What bosses (or content in general) are you talking about?

Your argument is essentially that you think the game is 'pathetic' because it doesn't have an 'I Win' button for you to press...
