How to work out Weapon dps?

Hi I have 2 swords, playing duelist.

One has 45-183 phys dmg / 9-94 elemental dmg

the other has 45 - 143 phys dmg / 5-64 ele dmg.

How do I work out the dps.

And is there a formula I can work out for other weapons.

The weapon dps itself is pretty simple. Just add the bottom and top end together, divide by two, multiply by attack speed. Including crit and accuracy becomes a bit more complicated, but it's still basic math.


Edit: Looking at your character, and ignoring crit/accuracy...

Blight Skewer does:
45-183 phys 9-94 lightning, 1.5 attacks per second

Sol Bite does:
45-143 phys 5-64 lightning, 1.77 attacks per second


Blight Skewer does (45+183)/2 + (9+94)/2 = 165.5 average damage per hit
Sol Bite does (45+143)/2 + (5+64)/2 = 128.5 average damage per hit

Blight Skewer does 165.5 * 1.5 = 248.25 base DPS
Sol Bite does 128.5 * 1.77 = 227.445 base DPS



Making meaningful decisions with those numbers would need to incorporate your skill tree and the rest of your equipment.

If I try and sell weapons does it matter if there is more or less phys as opposed to ele dps?

I can never ever determine the correct dps, what I do is actually put the weapon in my hand and check my character stats and then replace the weapon and see how the charters stats change, I then can determine which is better.
