Cyclone build - choice of weapon

Hi all

I want to make some duelist cyclone build but I wonder what are the most viable weapon choices.
I read most of the build-guides and most of cyclone builds operate on axes (soul taker ?). Is it only beacuse of the fact you dont need mana with this aprtcular axe ? Or is there something more to axes that I do not see ?

Can I make a good dual sword cyclone build ? If not then maybe sword + shield ? I read somewhere that rapiers have raaly long range and can be good.
Also what about 2h weapons ?
