also, using arc instead of another totem for culling seems better to me

Do flame totems count as spell damage? I'm wondering what the optimal class is. I have a dual totem marauder in HC but never considered using witch because of the spell damage nodes that are wasted, where marauder armor and life are never wasted. But maybe spell damage isn't wasted?

spell damage , fire damage , elemental damage , cast speed , +magic modifier on wand and herald all buff flame totem.

It works exactly like any spell actualy except you cant use spell echo

Except you can't cast Arc when you have a dual totem build.

So I've had it wrong this whole time. The flames are a spell, not an attack.

You can cast Arc. It just won't do any damage but it will still cull when linked to culling strike.
I'm doing the build at the moment. Hope the nerf doesn't hit us too hard.
Hello lifting, thanks for the awesome guide..
I was wondering is there an alternative to manually casting enduring cry.. I just find it off putting to keep casting it while at the same time concentrate on killing the boss..

Much appreciated

You're right, my bad! However the bonus to a cull totem is also that the moment you cast it the old totems vanish, so you eliminate the possibility of the old totem killing the boss. Plus it does do damage. Since it is the same number of slots (Spell/Cull/Rarity) why not?

If you want endurance charges, not really no. With totems EC isn't bad since you have lots of down time. The normal alternatives for gaining endurance charges like using the ECoMS gem aren't viable with dual totem builds.

Thank you for providing the link :)

I prefer flame totem over arc as flame totem has many, many more small frequent hits. This results in less down time per cast, which means it will instantly cull as soon as the target reaches >10% hp. Arc may sometimes be too slow if you your dps is high and it will result in the target dying in between the casts.

Does that make sense?
