Chilled/Burning ground question

Decided to try out arctic breath trap and noticed a weird interaction with fire trap.

Basically, player created burning ground and chilled ground seem to override each other, so you can't have both at the same place at the same time.

I wonder if that's the intended behavior or something that was overlooked, because this interaction is not very common?

As a side note, chilled ground from the map mod "area have patches of chilled ground" doesn't get replaced by player created chilled/burning ground.
