ES/ armour/ life: or spell damage?

Hi There

I've built a HC minion Arc hybrid Templar lvl 47

And I've only been playing for three months.

I'm not sure how many life% nodes to choose, whether armour is worth it (I hear it's not) and whether to go for ES nodes.
Or if I should go life leech.

Is there somewhere I can see what HP Es life regen I should be aiming for at various levels?
I'm a bit lost as to whether I need more defence.

I have a 5l Zombie chest
1270 life 120 Es 70 All res armour 700

Arc dmg 600.

Any advice or posts that could tell me what defence I should have at various Lvls would be a great help.

Try get as close to cap res as possible, should have life total of 2500 by level 60, 3000 at level 65, 4000 at level 75.

Don't go leech, focus minion, regen is kinda meh, you need a bit more es when you get like level 65ish.

I go for about 1000 hp by the end of normal, 2000 hp by the end of cruel, 3000 hp by the end of merciless. Then play by feel, if you feel too squishy and get a lot of close calls grab a bit more defenses/life, if not - grab damage (minion nodes in your case).

This game rewards focusing in one way of damage dealing. So if you go for minions, you better make sure they are good. It's better to have one really good way of dealing damage than several mediocre ones. You can still use arc for directing your minions and applying curse on hit, but grabbing lightning damage nodes is, probably, not optimal for minion build especially in HC.

Armor is not useless, but you need pretty high values for it to do anything (8 - 10k for merciless is a good enough figure, I think). Also, armor is most useful for characters that get hit a lot by white/blue mobs (mostly melee characters), and since you're playing a summoner it, most likely, is not worth the investment.
Thanks a lot for these replies and now I know what life% i should aim for.

I already have most minion nodes and in 7 levels will have them all. I think I have enough future points to invest in some lightning nodes. Otherwise when the minion nodes are filled - They'll be nothing left to go for cept defence.

What nodes help minions apart from the obv ones?

my 5L zombie has Zombie/ increased speed/dmg/resist/ life.

I know in the awakening - minions get a boost.

And do I need Aegis.

Melee gems work on zombies e.g. Multistrike.

Aura nodes help them as well.

For e.g. Hatred boosts your minion's damage by adding phys damage on as cold. Aura effect increases this amount. Grace boosts your minion's defence by adding evasion. Aura effect increases this amount.

Should be taking at least Sovereignty, maybe Influence/Charisma.
