2.0 ---> Scion master race again?

Some of the new unique jewels are crazy strong. So are well rolled rare ones.
All the shorter paths going out from Scion now provide access to a jewel slot. Basically you get 2 notable passives while escaping the start location with the first 5 points vs the ussual 1.
If you're able to fill in those sockets with stuff like this, it will more than make up for the weakness of the actual starting nodes themselves.
Plus you get the access to multiple escape paths as usual, if your build can make use of them. And the versatility with great freedom in respecing.

You said it yourself, Scion starting points are weak if not the weakest of all classes. Jewels might compensate for it so scions are not picked only by newcomers not aware of their drawback (like me coming back after a long break and picking a class I did not play before).

Scion being in the center of the tree also means all classes can path there and grab those jewel slots if they desire to do so. It also seems GGG tries to balance left and right sides to be equal in all major terms, which means players will be able to travel elsewhere easier.

Jewels are also random, therefore, even if scions are better off after the patch, there wont be any tidal weave of OP scion builds right away due to scarcity of powerful jewels.

Yeah... they balance the left and right sides okay, but they completely fail to balance the top and bottom sides. Which is why Witch OP and Duelist is... much worse than Scion, as of 1.3.
