I've been playing around with melee ele hit. The only way I could really make it fun was using soul taker cheese and attack speed scaling, and even then it was hardly gamebreaking.
Using Ele hit + Melee Splash + Multistrike + WED + Faster Attacks + LGoH Running Wrath + Anger + Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder + CoH + Ele Weakness
Gear:
(ignore gems I'm not playing this char at the moment) Got to around level 83 doing 76 maps no problems but stopped playing up after a couple of disconnect deaths with only 4,300 life and very little defences (relying mainly on attack speed/LGoH) Was doing around 14k tooltip I think which I worked out meant about 20k with ele hit, but the tree is set up to take the Forces of Nature cluster and then a whole bunch of attack speed nodes next which would scale the damage pretty nicely. I think something like
Drillneck + Windripper -Elehit-Pierce-AddedCold-AddedLight-Eledmg-LL setup could work... D3 treasure goblins's escape portal is an entrance to Wraeclast
