More gems, no sockets

Since multistrike and echo got introduced, they became almost mandatory.
They are so good, that there's almost nobody who doesn't link them as first choice.
So that's minus 1 sockets for mostly all builds, trappers logically excluded.

Still waiting for the green gem projectile/bow version of ms/echo, or maybe they just change ms to also work with bows.

Then we got a ton more gems, convocation, offerings, and now with Awakening even more...
but our socket amount is still unchanged since beta.

Here are some things that should be worked on:



1) Allow sequence macros

The action bar is ridiculously small and restricted, reactivating auras or switching between mobility/curse/buff skills is the stupidest thing ever.
I don't mind if the action bar stays that small, if it only would allow us to chain multiple skills in one button, like you can do in wow with /castsequence macros.

For example, you could cast a zombie 3 times, 1 curse, and flesh offering, all in the same button,
with a personally customised cooldown. Limiting our keybinds to a fraction of the skills we could use, and forcing us to manually drop select auras/minions/offerings/curses, every fucking time we relog or swap gear is absolutely ridiculous, annoying and from a ui design point of view absolutely retarded.



2) More sockets

Belts for starters should have 2 sockets, no problem. Mobility, warp+fc, leap+fa, a "free" 2L belt doesn't break the game in any way shape or form.

I would even suggest 4sockets for any shield and 1h weapon that has room for it, no daggers/wands or any other 1x3 sized items. To compensate and avoid favorism, these small items would have their base values like attack speed, dmg, crit, etc. buffed really well.



3) Merge gems

Many support gems could be merged, like minion life+res, minion speed+dmg as the most obvious example. Accuracy, crit dmg, crit chance, powercharge on crit, etc.


Throwing 100 new gems at us every year just doesn't work...

Nah, we don't need more sockets. You have to pick and choose.

I would, however, like to see more ability slots at the bottom right of the screen. Is "action bar" the technical phrase? I don't need macros, I just need more space. Customizable space. Only need 5 slots (in addition to mouse buttons)? Shrink the bar down to 5 slots. Need 7? Expand it.

You know what's really wierd?
If you look at the current action bar, left of "Q" (by default), you see a small half moon shape with a button like oval on it. It looks just like something you could use to stretch the action bar sideways to increase the amount of skill slots...

I'm glad the lack of sockets QQ is getting bigger. And I repeat what I said in every other thread, we need pants as another 4L source.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

But dont get me wrong, but the gem system is sucking, sure its nice to modify your spell, but it makes a lot of builds and skillgems boring really boring, you cant use 2 skills, cuz 6l will be always better than 4l so most ppls are running 1skill and spam it . the whole game... thats one really issue of this game, so GGG definetly needs to change many skill systems, or give us more options for skillgems ( several balance changes included but with a4 it wont be that huge prob to scale everything a bit higher.

My hopes for PoE are that you can have more skills and even more Utility Skills not just running around and spamm one skill or 2 with 2h/Bow :D even D2 offerd more skills at a time and more Utility :D

i made a post about allowing 2 sockets on all belts in the suggestion forum, I feel like we need those 2 sockets. Hard to really see where more could be added in a balanced fashion but I still feel like 2 on every belt is so needed right now.

And shoulderpads as new 3L source and three more slots for earrings and nosering. Could also all have 1 socket.

I like making choices, but at the same time I like using many diverse skills in combat. In this regard PoE is 1 or 2 skill spam and it got worse since OB. In OB you could use many skills besides your "primary" ones, now you need to specialise on tree and links, else the DPS is crap.

More and more skills are being added, yet the space to slot them is the same. Would it be bad if you caould effectively use 3 or 4 offensive skills in endgame?

Not one of my chars uses vaal gems, because of "choices". Counterattack skills? Nty, I'm already full with obligatory movements skill, defensive setups, aura setups, curses... and more stuff is coming.

I'd actually put a socket on all rings & ammys, plus 2 of them on all belts. Buff content accordingly. Theoretical combat diversity got better, but actual combat diversity got worse, since OB. You can create much more builds, but you can play less skills per build.


Attack skills, auras, heralds, cwdt/defensive setup, movement / escape skill, curses, counterattack, warcries... lol, hold the horses, there is no space left!!... But I'd like to use most if not all of this fuctionality, on most of my chars :(

There is this huge build diversity & complexity, but combat is one skill spam because of limited socket space :(

I remember when CWDT was released, some builds were running 2 or even more sets of it just cuz there was so little choices.

Every build should have their gem slots as constrained as a summoner is now, choices, always things you want but dont get, never just filler.

Disagree with this, main reason is most people would rather spam that one skill and have everything else passively (cwdt) or actively (curse) assist that one skill.

Like I said, back when ppl had lots of room they just filled it with passive filler.
