Just another Latency issue.

Hi.

I am pretty much just wondering why I get 180 latency on this game only.
I play on the Australian gateway and I am from Victoria.
My internet is not the best, but it is still decent enough for me to play every game I own reliably, Path of exile aside.

I have a cousin that uses the same ISP as me and doesn't live far, but he gets 40-60 latency all the time. We have been trying to play together lately, always ends with me saying I have had enough of spamming /oos.

This all being said my latency doesn't really spike much, it sits at 180 most of the time.

Here is the WinMTR thingo:

So what I have bolded are the areas that are likely to be causing your problems.

You have a consistent packet loss from the start of the trace right to the end, although it is larger through the centre of the trace. This is likely down to some traffic management from your ISP, but I would be a little concerned about the initial loss at the start of the trace (your actual computer connection).

The ping spikes/lag spikes start at hop 6 before your trace reaches the GGG end, again slightly indicative of some ongoing management from the ISP end.

However, a reboot of your router might clear up the initial loss and help with the rest of the packet loss - so try that and do a second trace and we'll look for any other issues that pop up.

Cheers.

I did what you suggested, here is the results. I also thought I should mention that I am wired, not using wireless:

That looks better as far as the initial packet loss goes - there is still shaping and latency occurring the middle of the trace though.

Lets wait for someone smarter than me to come along and give it a second look - they might be able to offer some other advice. At the moment I'm at a loss because its a little out of both your control and GGGs control.

EDIT:

Wait a sec.

Why on earth is your trace going through Japan? That makes no sense.

The routing from your ISP to us is broken. I will see what I can do.
