Technical Support - Failed Creating the Direct3D device error - Forum

Yeah, i know this error is old, but i've been searching in this forum for fixes and none of them have worked, i got a key in the closed beta but and i used to love the game but then life happened and i didnt have the time to play anymore. BUT I MISS THIS SO MUCH in using windows 7 ultimate 64bit When i launch PoE through shortcut or the client file in the install folder i get a black screen and then this error; Failed Creating the Direct3D device then another error that says; dxutcreatedevice failed and finally PathofExile stopped working.exe My specs are more than enough to play PoE i think, and my graphic card support pixel shader 4.0 so thats not the issue I also tried to delete the config file but that didn't work, neither changing to fullscreen or the -hresolution -wresolution trick. reinstalled the game but nothing changed. I did have some problems with a d3dx9_42.dll so when i got the right one and put in the right folders (system 32 and syswow64) i thought i could finally play. Your graphics card could definitely use a driver update. Check the Nvidia website for the most recent drivers. I believe some have come out in March of this year. Did you have that 'd3dx9_42.dll' error with Path of Exile or a different program? You may need to check your EventViewer log for any errors involving PathOfExile.exe (or PathOfExileSteam.exe if you use Steam) and make sure your Nvidia Control Center is up-to-date. Try to reinstal directX 9.0 from the redist folder located in PoE folder. And your specs is not enough to play PoE without problems. Also I recomend you to play PoE on windows xp, because even if you get rid off videocard errors you will still have problem with low ram -> 2GB and you using windows 64 bit... Why? the directx in the poe directory was one of the first things ive tried i didn't choose it :( when i came back from a trip my xp system was upgraded to 64 version.
