Reflected damage: Thorn or True Reflect?

People doesnt seem to know the answer in globals

Situation:
-Monster reflect 30% physical damage
-My hit is 1000 physical damage

2 scenarios:

1) monster gets 1000 physical damage and i get 300 physical damage as reflected damage

or

2) monster gets 700 physical damage and i get 300 physical damage as reflected damage

1 would be Thorn

2 would be true reflect

which one it is?

I'd wager the former. It's reflect, not deflect.

The wiki seems to agree:

"Damage reflection causes a portion on the damage dealt to a target to also be taken by the attacker."

Consider another occurrence of the word 'reflect' in PoE:

Atziri's Mirror is a unique Golden Buckler.

When an enemy inflicts a curse on a character equipped with Atziri's Mirror, Curse Reflection causes that curse to be inflicted on that enemy as well.

Not 'instead of'.

Not very bright people in that chat you're in, it seems.

so Its thorn

Deflection would mean that the damage can bounce to any other players or monsters

reflection implies that it goes back to source

Reflect is not the right wording for that situation

30% of 1000 = hits you.
1000 hits target.
RNS be thy name.
Hardcore or GTFO!
Actually, true "reflect" would be 1300 to the monster and 300 to you...

Conservation of Momentum and whatnot.

1000 hits target.
Sadly a bad wording by GGG made me falsy hope that
could have a promissing use

imagine if it was true reflection

Bamble jack would mitigate 40% of physical damage

abyssus would increase the damage reflected and be negated by bramble

there would be so many builds possibilities if reflect was true reflect

Nope

True reflect is:

700 dmg absorbed
300 dmg reflected

Nonsense. More momentum is transferred in an elastic collision than in an inelastic.

Surprise, surprise. This got inane. You got your answer.

An answer wasnt the only thing i wanted
i also wanted a discussion about another misleading wording

Charan uses "Bad moderation skill" to move a thread to where it doesnt belong so his Goddess thread gets more attention

Wording is a matter of perspective. Damage is being reflected, period. Theres nothing to discuss, its all clear.
Also note that the reflected damage you take is based on the amount of damage the monster actually takes, not what you deal. If the monster mitigates it by 30%, the damage you take will be based on 70% of the damage you dealt. Which pretty much answers your initial question.
