V-Sync capping my client at 30 fps
So after reading a few threads I found out that it is V-sync that is capping my client at 30 fps. After a little testing I figured out that this is caused by video players running on other monitors.(Twitch.tv)
Are there any known fixes to this? I know I could turn off V-sync but then my GPU melts from going to 80+C with 100% fans.

Can fix easily enough - MSi Afterburner will allow you to lock your FPS at whatever you want (works on both AMD/Nvidia cards).
I use it myself because I have a problem with temperatures - laptop :( https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner You'll need RivaTuner (but I think thats included) to modify the FPS lock. I'm going to keep messing with the settings and see if I can get any better stability out of it. I would love to have a true fix rather than a work around. If you want the devs to take notice, post a DxDiag as well so they have a bit of background information on your system :)
If you're not running stable framerate with the locking on, are you sure you're able to run both screens of stuff with enough grunt to get POE stable 60? But today, it won't go away. It just continues to pulse 5 seconds of 30 fps then 3 seconds of 60 fps. | |

When you are not able to produce 60fps (with 60hz monitor), vsync does exactly what it is supposed to do dropping the frame rate to 30 fps (doube buffering).
With fps capped to 60 it stays at 60 when it can and anywhere in between 0-60 limited by your GPU's ability to draw frames when it can't hold 60 and hence it's not stable, why would it be? It strives to get to the limit and when it's not at the limit it won't be stable. Simply put, when vsync caps your fps at 30 it simply means your GPU can not sustain 60 fps at that moment. You can try forcing triplebuffer on which would allow stable 40 fps instead of 30 when 60 isn't doable. It will obviously take some vram though. | |
" My GPU is completely capable of producing and sustaining 60 fps for extended periods of time while having streams open. The issue only started a couple months ago. I think the issue is that PoE is some how confusing video players (shockwave/flash player) with the game and capping my fps. When I close Twitch, I run perfectly fine with V-sync on. Also, the instability I mentioned was with using MSI Afterburner to cap my frames but I figured out my issue there. I had my global settings conflicting with my specific program settings. Now that I ironed that out I've been running PoE, without Vsync, capped at 60 fps via MSI as well as having Twitch streams open with no issues. My issue has seemingly "repaired itself" in the past but today it wasn't having it. The MSI work around is doing the job now. You can also try turning off the hardware acceleration in your browser if you get desperate - but yeah, I think longterm POE players must have gotten used to work arounds by now :)
