Two questions about temp leagues and races

So i've just started playing PoE again and I am not sure as to whether I want to start a new toon on the temp leagues right now cause i have no idea how much longer they are on for? And when the new ones start
Also I was just curious as to why some of the race rewards are plain white items i'm sure i'm missing something there but its a curious question cause for the 1st time I really want to try and get into doing races | |

The white items are alternate art ilevel 100

They still last for one more month I think.

The white items are base items that can be crafted into some of the best items in the game with sufficient resources. They're a huge currency sink, as many will spend 1000s of exalts trying to make them the best they can be. The alternate art is considered valuable as well.
I know how they work, but don't understand why people want to do that. |

Ok looks like i'll hold off on the temp leagues and just wait for the new ones and I figured they had to be high lvl whites to be worth being rewards time to study up on racing info thanks for the info peeps much appreciated
