Sorry to hear the game's not starting for you. Here's some more possible solutions that might help:

• Try running the game as administrator (right click the short, run as admin)
• Disable any antivirus/firewalls temporarily
• Make sure your drivers are up to date
• Try deleting or renaming your production_Config.ini file (usually located in "C:\Users\{Username}\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile").
