When I was young my father won some goldfish at the local fair (you could still do it back then). We put them in a bowl and they swam around a bit. At bedtime, being a caring sort of person i was very concerned that they needed somewhere comfortable to sleep. So I took them out and lay them on my pillow next to me.

Worry not, my child. As long as you honored them with a proper burial or made them useful by feeding them to your cat, you have already atoned your sins.
However, if you flung them through the Vile Typhoon, keep in mind you at least said sorry. Be a little nicer with your current pets and you'll be absoluted. If you ask a stupid question, expect stupid answers.

Please forgive me for being vain. I haven't commited any atrocities and I think that makes me an ok person in my book. It also helps that I'm good looking.
