You don't understand that what you see on the client is only the best guess as to what actually is happening. You weren't "thousands of miles away" in the eyes of the server... where it counts. You were blocked by something, and weren't given information about the blockage in time to let you react to it. You have to be really careful to avoid situations like this near all rogue exiles. Running from them is often fatal.
