Continuing disconnection problems

Those packets lost and ping spikes at the start of the trace are worrying. Are you using a wireless connection to your modem/router? I would try restarting it then using a wired connection, and then checking if you are experiencing the same issues. If you are experiencing the same issues please create a new thread on this subforum.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm on a 60Mb/sec wired connection which is pretty solid for everything else, and was fine up until the 1.3.0 patch (though that might be coincidence). I've verified the speed using some of the speed test web sites and it does give me 60Mb/sec.

I'm not seeing any problems with anything else running on the machine. Having said that, PoE is the only game I'm playing at the moment and I may not notice small pauses in browsers etc.

A new trace below from tonight whilst I was actually playing the game i.e. I started it as soon as PoE connected and left it running until the disconnect. The game continued for about a minute after all the monsters stopped moving/vanished. In that time I put PoE into the background a few times and noticed that the "last" column in the trace looked fine i.e. it looked like it could still talk to the server.

I'm having to stick to low level maps now because I can almost never complete a map without disconnecting and don't want to waste them :-(

This is the error from the Client.txt:

2014/12/18 22:47:54 101472238 2ab [INFO Client 5168] Abnormal disconnect: An unexpected disconnection occurred.

And the trace:

Hmm. Did you watch the trace while you experienced the disconnect? Those ping spikes are still occuring from your system/modem, and they're affecting your connection to our servers.

You may need to check that nothing else on your system is using your connection (Windows comes with a tool called 'Resource Monitor', searchable in your start menu search bar) while you play Path of Exile. I would also turn off any other devices using your network while you test this, and hopefully we can isolate the cause of this ping spike issue.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have a go at that and post back to this thread.

What I don't understand is why PoE takes up to about a minute to disconnect after the problems start, but during that time the trace seems to show no problems getting to the server.

I'm curious as to why it takes the client so long to die, and why it can't recover during that time.
I haven't had any problems in the past few days, actually since pretty soon after I posted here. Nothing changed at this end so either my ISP did something or GGG did. Whatever it was it worked! Good stuff.
