Bro I had a thread about 750 while back... I know feeling...fact is you chased.. never chase I learned. Throw 50-60 into it to see if you can hit jackpot like many brag about ...then just pay the man. You'll feel a lot better.

I spent 700+ trying to 6S rare chest and still nothing, but that's not all...

2 weeks ago I spent 24 fuses to 4L boots..

And I know, I'm an idiot but I'm glad that I'm not alone anymore ;)

can confirm, I've used Vorici a couple times now to exceed the iLevel restriction of some low-level stuff (5'd an iLevel 22 Quillrain and 4'd an iLevel 24 Peregrine).


Still, it shouldn't be possible for a Pledge to have low enough iLevel that it can't be 6'd, even when chanced. Dude just got unlucky. And then complained about his misfortune when he should have known damn well there's an alternative available.




Thankfully, I learned my lesson on just using Vorici for sockets from trying to 4-socket some gloves manually, wound up taking me over 40 jeweller's (vorici charges 10). Sure, it feels great when you take on the RNG and get your desired result cheap, but it feels MUCH worse to overpay, especially when it's as severe as paying 3x or 4x the expected amount.

If it's something you actually care about rolling for the optimum, just pay the man.

Here's some food for though. I plugged in a 1/350 random variable, then repeated 1000 times and counted the number of times it came through for each of those 1000 tries.
This is like using 1000 jeweller's orbs, assuming a terrible natural rate of 6 socketing of 1/350.
This is what I got

zero 6-sockets: 4 times

one 6-socket: 10 times

two 6-socket: 11 times

three 6-socket: 10 times

four 6-socket: 5 times

five 6-socket: 6 times

six 6-socket: 1 time

seven 6-socket: 1 time

eight 6-socket: 2 times (!!!)

for your information three of those 'zero 6 socket' rolls came within a 4-5 trial streak (so that's like spending 5000 jeweler's orbs and getting 1-2 6-sockets items.

Sure it sucks, but I don't think we'll see you complaining when you get 8 6-socket items over the same run, that's 125 jeweller's per 6 socket, 8 times in a row!!!

and i mistakenly thought people wouldn't make posts about this after GGG added something to the game that gave you 100% chance to 6 socket an item

i was wrong

I got 6S on an item with 6 jewellers once. Was my first try to 6S and I thought it was a great way to build up on jewellers orbs (you know, invest 6, get 7 in return).
I then learned that I was extremely lucky.
Now, if I really were after 6S I'd just use Vorici's bench after investing 20 - 30 jewellers to see if I get lucky.
