GhazzyTV - Basic Craft Guide for new players
<GhazzyTV Craft Guide Banner (TBA)>
This guide will teach you the following: * How to use Transmutations, Alterations, Augmentations, Eternals, Exalteds, Divine orbs and also Blessed orbs * Master Crafting including full lists of their available crafts * What Affixes are, and how to have them in mind when crafting * How to use www.poemods.com = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Item Affixes
An item can have up to 6 affixes where 3 are Suffixes and 3 are Prefixes, for an item to have more than 2 Affixes it must be a rare (yellow) item. Whilst a magic (blue) item only can have a maximum number of 2 Affixes where 1 is a prefix and the other a suffix. It is important to first point out the fact that unique items have custom modifications on them, and henceforth do not have any affixes at all. To list all rollable Affixes on any item you can check them out on: www.poemods.com What's a Prefix or Suffix? The different "fixes" basically has 2 different pools of mods that can be rolled on an item. Example; Let's say we have a magic helmet called "Hubris Circlet" that we identify and it is showing us 2 mods; "Blazing Hubris Circlet of the Virtuoso" the stats are 50+ Energy Shield and 47+ Intelligence. If you use www.poemods.com => Helmet => Energy Shield, you can easily see that "Blazing" is a prefix (having its name before the item base name). You can also see that "Blazing" is the very highest Tier of flat energy shield rollable on helmets. By using this website you can also easily spot that "Virtuoso" is the highest Tier of flat Intelligence gain on helmets. Of course showing that this specific mod is in fact a suffix, showing its name after the item base name. Now, the rule of having prefixes showing their name before the item base name and suffixes being displayed after, this only applies to magic items. Once the item is turned in to a rare item it starts following a Random-Item-Name-Generator How do i know what iLvL to use? This part is fairly simple, next to every mod you see in poemods website has an iLvL displayed next to them. That iLvL is the lowest LvL you need on the item to be able to roll that specific mod. Sometimes when crafting it could be smart to have that exact iLvL when you craft as higher iLvL's might open up the the possibility of rolling mods you do not want. To check the iLvL of an item there are a handful of different ways, the most common is to pick the item up in the air and then type "/itemlevel" and it will display the items LvL in the chat window. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Craft Materials
Basic Craft Materials:
Orb of Transmutation
Transmutations first of course!
This nasty little thing will turn a non-magic item in to a magic one! The item will either get a prefix or a suffix, and sometimes it will get 1 of each.
Orb of Augmentation
Secondly we have Augmentations!
These orbs are almost worthless in any league due to being so easy to get. When used on a magic item it will provide the magic item with an additional mod. Keep in mind that magic items still follow the rule of only being capable of having 2 mods (1 pre & 1 suf). So this orb is only usable on a magic item that has 1 mod on it.
Orb of Alteration
Alterations are used to reroll a magic item to new mods. Simmilar to the Transmutations this will reroll the magic item in to having either 1 or 2 mods on it.
Regal Orb
And lastly of our basic craft materials we have Regal Orbs.
These orbs will turn any magic item in to a rare item, it can be used on a magic item with 1 or 2 mods and it will give the item an additional mod, but this time the mod will be rolled within the limitation of the item in its rare form. Which means, the new mod that is applied by the Regal Orb can now be either suffix or a prefix as rare items can have up to 6 affixes. This is a very common way of crafting basic cheap useful items to then benchcraft them with masters. Advanced Craft Materials:
Blessed Orbs
This orb can sometimes be a little tricky to understand as it is very different from the Divine Orb below. The Blessed Orb will only re-roll the numeric value of the implicit stat on an item. To easier explain what it does here is an example; The all resistance ring "Prismatic Ring" has a stat on it even in white form saying; #%+ All Resistance. by simply googling "poe prismatic ring" you'll get directed to the poe-wiki (or if you prefer to search the item on their website that works as well, of course) here you'll be able to see that the all res roll can roll between 8-10%. That is the numeric value the blessed orb will re-roll when used, and you can do this on the item in white, magic, rare or even unique form. If you are uncertain if the item has an implicit mod or not here is a way of spoting if the mod is an Affix or a mere implicit stat: On this image you can see that the "10% To All Elemental Resistances" on the top have a line painted below itself and that below that stat there are other mods displayed. Any stat above that line is an implicit stat that the Blessed Orb will re-roll.
Divine Orbs
Unlike the Blessed Orb this orb will re-roll all the explicit numeric rolls below the line! Keep in mind that all rolls are still within their Tiers as displayed on the www.poemods.com website! For a quick example on a unique item, we can use the Lori's Lantern displayed under the Blessed Orb spoiler; The Divine Orb on this item would reroll the stats below the line, but seeing as this is not a rare item we have to look up what these custom mods actually can roll. We do this by either googling or heading over to the PoE-Wiki where we can see that the movement speed when on low life, as well as the chaos resistance when on low life can both be re-rolled with new numeric values. In this case, the Divine Orb would re-roll those specific numbers.
Exalted Orbs
The same effect as Augmentations, only difference is that Exalted Orbs is only used on rare items, providing a rare item with an additional Affix.
Eternal Orbs
When you use this orb on an item it will directly when you click it on the item create an "imprint" under your mouse. This imprint is basically a saved version of that specific item in its exact form it was when you used the Eternal Orb on it. You can after "saving" the item with an Eternal Orb, use Divine Orbs, Blessed Orbs, Exalted Orbs or what ever you'd prefer to do for your crafting. Should you not be satisfied with the result of this process, you can in this situation use the imprint on the item and it will turn back to the exact way it looked when you used the Eternal Orb on it in the first place. (This includes, links, colors, quality). Keep in mind that it is NOT possible after Vaal Orbing the item. This type of craft, using Eternal Orbs is mostly used when you want to make a mirror servicable "best item in the game" items. You can see me do a lot of crafting using Eternal Orbs on my livestream! = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Advanced Extras Section
For those of you that feel confident in a bit more advanced information about crafting, you should take a look at the actual chances of hitting specific rolls on any items via this LINK However, I've been told that the mod chances are not up to date, so there might be some incorrect values in this link. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

To fill in the gaps of which i have not gone in to more detailed there are great craft guides on youtube by both Zenocide as well as ZiggyD. One that caught my interest of having on this thread was the latest craft guide vid by Zenocide linked below: Zenocides Master Crafting Weapons for Beginners Zenocide Genious Youtube Channel ZiggyD Youtube Channel GhazzyTV Youtube Channel = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Livestream link: www.twitch.tv/Ghazzy Mirror Service Link: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/983676 Atziri & Uber-Atziri Service Link: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/939243 Uber Atziri Kill Vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ge9pGB3kvPc Hardcore Build Guide: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1085923 Softcore Build Guide: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/968988 = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Guides: https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/ghazzy-guide-hub YT: https://www.youtube.com/GhazzyTV Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/ghazzytv Last edited by Ghazzy on Nov 5, 2014, 11:39:41 AM

You get a free +1 from me.
HOWEVER, i gringed when i noticed the "mirror service, atziri service" etc link's. Simply put, those are promoting yourself and hold no relevance to the thread you are creating, i suggest you remove them to uphold the integrity of your thread and it's aimed purpose. still free bump, but consider what i am saying :), if this is honestly a guide for new players or experts alike around resource management, those links hold no value here for anybody but you. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" For all the hours it took him to write a nice guide for us a little self advertising at the end is ok imo. Thx for the lists, bookmarked. :) Last edited by Sa_Re on Nov 5, 2014, 9:24:18 AM

I won't like the idea that this guide gonna get pinned by mod.
The self promoting service seems occupied half of the page and I don't really feel this post is a whole hearted guide for the benefits of new players but for the advantage to get rich further too. Shame really. I Love This Game Now, Being a Summoner Hardly Associated with Desync ♫

Nice example of shameless self promotion.
I have only ever crafted flasks, maps, and Strongboxes - aside from adding an extra mod to my gear with Masters. Even so, I read all of this and learned nothing new. Why not just post a link to the wiki and poemods? That would be just as helpful. It looks like it hasn't even been proofread by a computer; it is full of grammatical errors and obviously missing words in many cases. Here, I will add a little value to your "guide." Use four Glassblowers Baubles on a flask before you start rolling affixes on it; that saves you six orbs as opposed to doing it after getting the mods you want on it. This tip works with any item you craft up from normal (white) rarity that you want to have 20% quality (with Chisels, Armorer's Scraps or Blacksmith's Whetstones in non-flask cases). I don't think there is any danger of this being stickied. "Sing while you may!" -Edward Ka-Spel Last edited by tsalal on Nov 5, 2014, 10:36:56 AM

Chriskang's frequenies are not up to date! That should be mentioned, flaring seems to be in the same rarity tier as tyrannical/empereor/glypic now!
That should be mentioned!!! :D |

" Ah, didn't actually know that! Thanks! For the rest of you, this guide is to provide basic knowledge for new players of how crafting works and what to look for and/or use. I chose not to go on specific crafts as there are a lot of people making good currency by using the knowledge i've delivered here for those who doesn't know poemods exist. The idea is for the absolute newest of players to learn the basics and then implement the knowledge to their playstyle in the game. Guides: https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/ghazzy-guide-hub
