Feeling my age

Returned to competitive cricket after 7 years out of the game at the ripe old age of 43.

Everything hurts.

For those familiar with cricket, I field at first slip and don't move far at any stage of the days play but after 2 consecutive weeks in the field, I'm stating to wonder if a day out of the house, away from the wife and kids is worth the pain. It most definitely is.

I missed the camaraderie and the chance to have a few beers at the end of the days play.

My first training session back, I got hit by the ball in the back leg and had a bruise the size of my leg for a week. I also missed the sweet searing kiss of hard leather on flesh.

Cricket, what a game. Something that the Americans will never understand.

We got baseball in instead. Also a non-understandable game that is boring as shit to watch.
All sports are crap to watch.

Playing them yourself is much better than being an armchair expert. Grats to the OP for playing again.

Personally I'm terrible at all sports.
