A guide has been posted here which covers general aspects and strategies of racing.

A summary of Time based events:

Timed based events are new type of event introduced in Race Season 9, they are designed to create a new kind of competitive environment where players compete not by character experience, but by their capabilities to progress through the game and complete specific objectives, such as killing bosses.

The boss required to be defeated for this race is: Piety, located in Lunaris Temple Level 3.

  • The time recorded is based from the beginning of the race, not when your character is created.
  • Characters will not appear on the ladder until they have completed the objective.
  • Characters are not required to have completed the time based objective in order to receive points for the other objectives, such as points awarded for reaching certain levels.
  • Characters who die after completing the objective, will still be counted for receiving reward points except for the level-specific prizes.
  • Points are awarded at the end of the race, do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.

I like how this is setup. Really hope it plays out well. :)

Say you kill Piety under level 30 though for a good timing, can you finish leveling to 30 after and get the points for that? Or does it record you at a lower level for the points.

You can continue leveling.

Also, just to note, we have added global first to kill messages for all the act bosses (including Brutus), so you will know when the first has completed the objective.

terrex where you been hiding? lol and indeed looks interesting
Did hope there are at least some Points for the Boss Kills on the Way. There not much Incentive for Players not having the Time for the Full 4 Hours or are not sure if they will get Piety down in that Time Set.
I love the Idea, but I thik it needs a little bit of motivational Points for the middle Range of Players to invest the Time in this Race. Would feel good if You only got to Act 3, but are not able to kill Piety, & earned let's say a Point for Brutus, Merv & Vaal on the Way.
Keep calm, play PoE, drink Tea & listen to Prog!

That's not a bad idea. I was hoping the 500 point BoR would be slightly less out of reach this season but as someone who can't devote time to 100% of the races 500 points is going to be really hard, I'm not even sure if I can do it. Hopefully these "kill races" will be beneficial to people like me if I can do it. Level 30 + Piety = 10 points which is a lot to me, especially with no D:C this season.
Fun stuff, would love to see a class ladder though

I think it's more of a skill/learning investment. It's completely possible to do Piety in under 3 hours (I mean level 30 is 2 hours if you don't care about Piety). I think this format is much better than a 3 hour race considering you have to commit to the entire 4 hour period to be competitive, seeing as time is the only thing that matters for a Demi's (unless you somehow tie and it goes to levels, that would suck).

I know & I'm able to kill Piety in 4h without a Problem, I'm just talking about al lot of People I know that are not abelo to (not yet) & would more likely try the Race if they get some Point for Vaal as Example, so it feels like a Goal besides juts the Levels ... on their Training-Way to get faster :)

Do reaaly like this new Idea of a Boss-Kill/Objective-Race in general :)
