You're welcome
poe.xyz is not an answer. Finding something you want, messaging someone only to find out they're offline, afk, have sold it and not updated their shop, finding it's verified and they're not selling anyway, finding out they're pvping or in a map and won't leave only serves to prevent trading from happening. Having something that lists items you want to sell, have a buyout on it then you just buy the item, it goes to your stash and they get their currency is the only way trading in this game is going to be improved to the point it's usable. What would we do if xyz didn't exist? Trading would not happen at all, and in a game where the loot drops make it almost impossible to play most builds self found it would lose a lot of players.
Trade tools would be useful, but...you know, the auction house is too asociated with Diablo 3 crap launch to be useful to convince anyone.

Every body just spouts "hurr duur diablo 3" as though that were somehow a bad thing without giving any legit argument other than not wanting POE to be compared to it
AH in D3 was crap because the game was balanced around it in order for Blizz to take their cut on each trade. There is tons of example of AH well integrated in games. The only reason for GGG to not implent it is the fact that it may speed up the gear search of a player and make him spend less time on the game.

You spend even less time on the game now, you spend far more time looking for trades that actually have an available seller

Except what you just described is not trading.

Agreed, better trading tools would be useful (even an in-game indexer), but an AH != trading. It's automated, favors bots and flippers even more than the minimalist system we have now, and removes any potential human interaction.

I still can't see how it's a bad thing, there needs to be somewhere where people can list items and others can buy it there and then or bid on it, nothing else addresses the problem
What problem?
Spoiler
I'm not being dense; you're supporting a very vaguely defined argument.

Edit: It's a bad thing for the reasons I outlined.
1) It's a tool for flippers and bots to exercise more direct manipulations in market trends.
2) Lacking personal interaction means losing the opportunity to haggle.
