New player - Game won't start

I get these three messages in a row. After each, it says to click 'ok'. After the third, the screen just stays black in the box where the game would be:
1. The D3D device has a non-zero reference count, meaning some objects were not released. 2. Failed resettig Direct3D device objects. 3. DXUT CreateDevice failed. I'm not sure what's wrong... |

chances are your video card doesn't support Pixel Shader Model 3.0, but we won't know for sure until you post a dxdiag.exe export into a spoiler tag here or into a pastebin linked here.
