Possibly giving melee characters some type of amazing movespeed skill would help.

Leap Slam
Whirling Blades
Lightning Warp
Flicker Strike
...are all pretty amazing movement skills.

If you want to have fun in this game never roll a melee char that can not one shot mobs or be semi ranged aand deal a lot of dmg .
