Can you explain why 'faster casting' passives have diminishing return once you have spell echo?

Is there specific cut-off points to aim for in terms of cast time for SRS?

Simply said, when you have 0 cast speed increase and you stack 20% on that, your effective increase of dps will be 120%/100%=x1.2

when you have 100 cast speed increase and you stack 20% on that, your effective increase of dps will be 220%/200%=x1.1

Well, that holds for all increased stacks. However, since spell echo is multiplicative with faster casting, or increased cast speed, this doesnt hold as well (tho it still matters in regards of stacking cast speed). What does matter is the rounding of CAST TIME. Since the game takes the rounded value in consideration, we have to keep in mind, that reducing the cast time from 1sec down to 0.99 is easy, takes a 1/0.99~1.01 increase of cast speed. However, reducing the cast time from 0.25 to 0.24 is a lot harder, since this takes a 0.25/0.24~1.04 increase of cast speed. If you dont increase the cast speed by that amount, you wont notice any difference. However, Once you do get that reduction you also notice a significant greater amount of cast speed.

Thank you Leary for smacking through the detailed explanation of diminishing returns in stacking % increases.

But yeah, as Leary states the more cast speed you get the harder it will get for you to actually notice or even get a visible number showing that your cast is now actually faster than it was before you applied <insert cast speed nr>.

A perfect example is when i finished my craft-gloves, it allowed me to get rid of my last +30 dex node and get +4% cast speed. I was so sure it would actually pop 0.01second faster casting on my SRS, but no, nothing happened there. The only difference i noticed was 0.01 sec faster casted Spell Totem...

I hope you got the answer you were seeking!

Thank you for this build (especially for the HC version)

Does :
- "inscreased spell damage" (ie wand)
- "increased elemental damage" (ie node)
...has any effect on SRS ?

I am curently studdying the 2H-Staff or 1H+shield options

No. They only effect you, not your minions
OK,so the [elemental dominion] node does "only" offers 6% cast speed +20 intelligence

Exactly Hillda.
The reason we take that node is because it provides us with 20 Int and 6% cast speed and also access to the 4% cast speed nodes for later usage.

4% FC nodes ? I thought you were advising only to take them before Echo

After Echo I refund them and I am willing to reach this build until I reach lvl 70 :

I also use :
Spell Totem + Squeletons + Arc + Fast Cast
for double totem purpose and wide gain introducing fight

The only slow problem I have is for Desecrate + Flesh offering (so slowwwww for the moment... will add Fast cast as soon as possible)

By the way : you show Vaal'S Squeletons on CoDT. I thought it wasn't possible to cast Vaal's squels by this way. Checked it last week. I am currently using those Val'Squeletons as "panic button"

Am I all wrong ?

Cast Speed before Echo, then refund out of them to get cast speed after getting everything else in the game that you want.

Yeah that is incorrect regarding Vaal Skellies, I only use it for the Trio-Boss and it is not suppose to be linked with CoDT.

CwDT should not trigger Vaal skellis since Vaal gems can not be triggered anymore. So the setup should be fine, although you "waste" a link

Very true, however in this build we do not need CoDT with inc duration seeing as we get 90% from the tree. Making it wasted if we don't use any other spell there, such as Vaal Skellies.
