Expectations and Opinions

The mechanics of the game are truly amazing, and unparalleled in any other game; especially the currency and skill gem system. Having currency with an intrinsic value like all the orbs is brilliant, as the games' market will be able to adjust itself to fluctuations (its similar to SoJ or high runes in D2). The mechanics which GGG's net-code allows are a really nice idea too, however, perhaps overly optimistic on their part. Having an /oos macro helps a ton though.

Progressing through the game its becomes very clear that Act 3 has had more <3 than the other 2. I feel, though that A3 has become overly long, especially compared to A1. I think piety is a fine point at which to end A3, and make Dom the boss of A4.

It's an interesting conundrum. I'd be delighted if the OP is actually wanting just community discussion without any dev attention (which means this does belong in GD) -- I just can't help but feel, given post histories and certain familiar names, that a thread like this is a "sly" (I cannot emphasise those inverted commas enough) stab at Feedback's lack of seeming activity, when the devs have said repeatedly they read a lot of it, just don't always respond.

But fine, let's operate under the assumption this is a goodwill thread with no intention beyond inter-player discussion of what the OP raises.

I don't think anyone whose expectations have been met and who feel that things are fine would bother reply (this is similar to that 'when have you beaten PoE?' concept). So we're already at a point where certainly most replies will be negative/critical. Going from that, we can look at how often such things end well with the current forum community.

...I hope you can see why I'm not exactly cheering for this idea.

This game lives up to the expectations I'd apply to it given its counter-intuitive financial model, relatively small dev team, overly ambitious approach and ultimately futile attempt to provide a fair but 'merciless' environment for all comers in a gaming climate where competitiveness and amoral behaviour is at an all-time high.

It stopped being the game I wanted it to be long ago. As long as it's still the game GGG want it to be, I don't see much problem with that.

I always wonder what created the typical stereotypical "elaborate poster that says he does not care for the game but spends time to post on several threads while having a slight attitude". I'm wondering since 1996. A mystery indeed...
Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.

I've been an avid Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 player for years, even got my girlfriend hooked on them when she watched me play.
When i've heard of Diablo 3 being made, i really wanted to jump on the hype train, but by growing up and learning a lot about the world in the previous 12 years and seeing how Blizzard is actually Activision/Blizzard now and how the original D1 and D2 team got removed from the company, i smartly decided to wait until the corporate propaganda machine shut down and the actual product got reviewed by actual players.
As i correctly foresaw, it was nowhere near the two games i used to play and love in the past, so i didn't even bother to buy it; instead i'd replay Diablo 2 from time to time with the widescreen-fix, when my ARPG itch kicked in.

Needless to say, i was thrilled when my neighbours showed me a free to play game they'd been told about from one of their friends - PoE. When i sat there watching them play - and was even able to advise them how to do stuff based from my previous D2 expirience, i knew i've found my next "mainstay" ARPG; even more so when i've read up on GGG and their design philosophy. Sure, there are some problems with the game like the occasional desync and the clunky trading system, but from what i've expirienced so far (been playing since april 2014) it's nothing that couldn't be circumvented by some smart playing, patience, and 3rd party services like poe.xyz and Procurement.

Overall, i agree and support their design philosophy; as long as they don't turn in to a greedy and uncaring mega-corporation, they'll continue to have my support and my wallet.

Back in Open Beta a friend told me about this game and I was very skeptical, but installed and tried it out ... As of now I've loved this game since I saw the first zombie eat a wounded exile back in Twilight Strand. The game has so far lived up to most of my expectations, regarding the skill and orb systems. Sacrifice Of The Vaal was a disappointment and I took a long break from that and till the release of Forsaken Masters and have been playing a bit since.

+1
I like many kinds of games 😊

I'm writing to see how others feel about the execution of POE. I think we can all agree, this game has some amazing ideas. Skill gem/links, currency/crafting, and so on...

It seems obvious that Chis's vision of POE was indeed a great idea.

I'd like to hear other players chime in and talk about whether or not POE is up to their expectations, and collect ideas for how it could be improved.

Quite disappointed with the progress since closed beta , that's all I can say .
Well, the game needs optimization and a netcode that feels less quantum mechanics and more classic physics.
Add a Forsaken Masters questline

Game got some serious fresh air once awakening come out, and i expect something good coming on next expansion...
P.S.: Sorry for the necro...
This game has just about everything I look for in an ARPG. I really have no actual complaints. Suggestions, a few quality of life changes maybe (like Cyclone pathing and the issue where you can get stuck on a pebble to name one), but I can't disagree with the direction they've taken so far.

Great loot system. Barter trading system. Deep and thought provoking skills and trees. A fantastic story that simultaneously doesn't shove itself in your face constantly. PoE is a great game.
Every Saturday = National Booze n Poe Day
poe is great
Too much of same, way too many trash items, no good trading system etc is killing that fun when playing this game. Once frustrations overcome fun people stop playing.

Than I was quite disappointed to see that talisman didn't get their own slot. What a letdown. Next letdown was new expansion that basically gives more passive stat points. I don't know but if there was some special move or (not only passive) special (super?) skill (no skill gem slot type skill) granted for getting into certain specialization or even cosmetic change that would make it feel somewhat different. But just few different passive skills... I dont know.

And than still nothing on trading system....

My only hope is that there will be some interesting builds that will make this game fun and worth playing again and that don't require super hard to get items.
