Grandmaster Immortalisation
This thread is intended for Grandmaster Supporters. It explains the process of exporting your character for immortalisation in the Hall of Grandmasters unique Map. Please only post in this thread if you are a Grandmaster Supporter with questions about the process.
After the deployment of 1.2.3b, we'll be awarding Grandmaster Supporters an item in their microtransaction stash which will allow them to export a character. This may not arrive immediately, but if you haven't received one by October 4, please contact support@grindinggear.com. When right-clicked, the Grandmaster export item will export a copy of your character and send it to us. We will then review these manually and import them into the Hall of Grandmasters in a later patch. The Grandmaster export item will only work once, so be careful. Grinding Gear Games support can give you another one if you realise that you made a mistake and would like to export your character again. All item stats, passive skill tree stats and skills will be exported. The visual appearance of your character including microtransaction effects applied to your items will be exported. You should summon any minions that you would like your Grandmaster to have with them. Any minion that would come with you when you move between areas will be exported. Animated Guardians are not supported at this time, nor are skills that make minion copies of you (i.e. Blink and Mirror Arrow, Vaal Double Strike). You should have any auras active that you would like to have on your Grandmaster when they spawn. Auras that you have equipped but are not active when you export your character will not be used. Note that this includes Herald and Arctic Armour (i.e. non-aura reservation skills). You should summon the pet you would like your Grandmaster to have with them. Do not have any skills equipped that you would not want your Grandmaster to use. Our designers will assign your Grandmaster an AI script that uses its skills. We will try to preserve the submitted Grandmasters as much as possible but may make balance tweaks in some cases to keep the Map fun. We're still working on development of the Map itself. It may be several more weeks before it's patched into the game, but we're collecting Grandmasters in the meantime so that we can start testing them in the Map internally. " It's linked from various places (patch notes, the item itself, upcoming news posts), so we figured it's fine to not sticky it.
" Flasks are not exported or used. " The Map is around level 69 it seems. We're probably grouping the Grandmasters so you're fighting either fewer of the higher ones or more of the lower ones at the same time, so it's okay to submit characters that are of any level. I'd recommend pretty high level ones though - the map is intended to be hard!
" Culling will work from a technical perspective. I'm not going to promise that we wont disable it if find that there are issues with playtesting but we don't have any plans to disable it at the moment. Path of Exile II - Game Director

" 532. We don't expect everyone will submit a character quickly though.
" Probably a couple of months still. We'll post more info as it gets closer to whatever the deadline is.
" All player skills that they have will be used. These monsters will use the usual mana rules for players, so if your build can't support itself mana wise than don't submit it. " The players will have standard merciless resistance penalty applied so your resists will be identical to whatever your real player has in merciless. " Whatever gear you have on when you do the export will work, so feel free to borrow some gear for the process. " The grandmaster will maintain the level that the character was for the purposes of stats and damage calculations and so on. " We will try where possibly to preserve the stats of the grandmaster as it was given to us but we reserve the right to apply minor balance changes to some grandmasters in cases where playtesting shows that they are not reasonable to fight against. " Yes. It's like any other Map.
" We're still working on this, but we'd like them to be supported. There are a lot of questions around how we're going to handle souls. After some testing we'll clarify how this will work. " I believe it uses the name of the character currently.
" It's usually pretty obvious what a character is trying to do. If we really to get in touch we will, otherwise having everyone discussing their character's build is just going to make everything take a lot longer. Do remember to not equip any skills you don't want your Grandmaster to use, though! " No, though we reserve the right to balance Grandmasters to keep them fun. " No, sorry, it would be very difficult to do that for so many people. " The map is supposed to contain every Grandmaster, as more people submit them the map will be expanded. " This map is supposed to sort of simulate fighting Grandmaster characters PvP-style, so skills will be the same as they would be in PvP (though there details to sort out regarding Vaal skills and Animate Weapon/Guardian). Again, we reserve the right to balance things to make them fun. " No, though updates to skills might. If you ever update your Grandmaster, of course, it can change, too. " It will be mostly waves, but there may still be some 1v1 also. " It's not timed. " Sorry! " No strict deadline at the moment. Code warrior Last edited by Rhys on Oct 2, 2014, 10:18:01 PM
