Need a sword with barbs that does more damage when you pull it out than it did going in.

Ummm, I really hope not.

More along the lines of a fish hook, porcupine spine, cactus spine etc,,, poison tipped would be best I think.

Barbed wisdom

The tests revealed that the barbed (porcupine) quills need only half as much force to penetrate pig skin as quills that have had the barbs removed — but it takes four times as much force to pull them out. On entry, the barbs localize forces at small points, like the serrated edges of a knife. But if the quill is pulled backwards, the barbs flare out and snag on tissue fibres, says the team. Found at http://www.nature.com/news/barbs-make-porcupine-quills-into-nasty-needles-1.11986

From what I understand, these quills will migrate through the body if not removed. They can also cause serious infection. Cactus spines are similar in design.

It is best to use pliers to pull these out. You just can't get a good grip with your fingers.

It is highly recommended that you not squat to take a dump in the desert. At least be very aware of where the cactus are. Don't forget your shoes.

So, ya, the barbs need the right angle and don't need to be very big. Poison is a very good addition.
