you cant respec points which are the only connection between you starting position and other points,

You cant respec the middle of a tree unless it connects with the tree elsewhere. From the image I'm guessing you haven't done that going to the left. Fill in the mana to take out the life, or you have to remove everything after it instead.

Hard to tell from the image, but I am guessing that those are the only link you have between the left and right part of your tree.
You'd need to link them all together with other nodes before you can spec out of those ones. EDIT - Seems like I was a bit slower than the others.
