Supply and demand.
Because there's a lot of fusings (from selling rares), but not so many Ex in this league, and people are desperate for Ex to buy upgrades. There is always a variance on items like this, one guy wont hold up the cost as most POE players are generally smarter than to spend that much.

One would hope that people have better things to do other than lecturing sellers of an item they don't even want to buy about what price they should be selling it for.

:-( i hate this CoD and the 23fusings it took to be 6linked. but also agree with the guy ingame. wouldnt sell mine for less than 25ex aswell btw only because a 6link due vorici costs 20ex. doesnt mean its worth that. u've to think about the time u need to farm/sell w/e to get the fusings and this will be a longterm work. you just dont understand how prices work....
The guy has a 6L cloak of defiance, and he thinks that he would rather have the 6L cloak than 24 exalteds or less. He also believes that someone will be willing to pay that moeny to get it. End of the story, it isnt neither expensive or cheap. If someone has 25 exalteds and thinks that he would rather have a 6L cloak than 25 exalteds sitting in his stash then he will buy it. If no one believes that 25ex is a fair price then the seller wont ever sell the cloak. | |

What I don't understand about these threads is that PoE has a deliberately inefficient market to slow down gear progression. Most people seem to think this is a good thing or at least a necessary evil. But then when people see the inevitable market failures, markets that don't clear and inefficient use of resources they get all bent out of shape and create threads like this.
If people want efficient markets and prices that reflect underlying value and supply and demand then they should be arguing for an Auction House or some other form of workable marketplace. Otherwise inconsistencies and anomalies are inevitable. |
