Comparing on a node by node basis is rather missleading. What matters more is different skill "trees" at key levels such at 50 (cruel merciless) and lv70ish (maps) and lv90ish (endgame).

Anyone who has played the game at all lately knows that Templars and Duelists are the most underrepresented classes right now...

Shadow isn't gonna roll Riotous Fire and have as much life or life regen. Actually you could but you'd waste a handful of nodes that don't do you much good.
But....ya. I don't see it anymore. Heck the novelty of Riotous Fire wore off pretty quick too when I realized how bad it is at maps ( can't do BM, half or no regen)

So why Play Marauder?

Did you see what ggg and their balance team done with marauder?
Now its just little bit life and nothing special... even duelist have more specific and unique big notable nodes then marauder.

They just ruin that char. What we can say? Nice balance!

5 Starting nodes of Marauder:
40% increased armor,
17% increased max life,
16 max life

5 Starting nodes of Ranger:
62% increased evasion,
17% increased max life,
12 max life.

Next node after that?
Marauder: 1.5% life regen, 20 str.
Ranger: 8% IAS, 20% accuracy, 20 dex.

I don't care if anybody has 6 marauders or believes that marauders are still viable. The fact top players choose not to play Marauder is what matters to me.

From a competitive point of view Marauders are not viable enough.

Of course there are a lot of reasons, partly also mentioned here.

Point of this thread is to raise awareness around this matter and also make GGG look into this.

their both pretty good depending on build but 8 ias and 20% acc is ridiculously strong for any non RT attack based class.

Even if you're going to do a block melee build like I'm doing now, Duelist is better than Marauder still (and you could use the right side of the tree too I guess, although I probably wouldn't for my specific build).

Yeah, generally you get the Marauder's life with a build in that area, but really that starting node with the flat life and armor isn't as good as the duelist's starting node (I think it is flat life plus like 15% melee phys). So there is no point starting as Marauder even in that case.

But I guess you could argue over the starting node or two (the second duelist node isn't as good, for example). Although the duelist has those 6 and 4 attack speed nodes also.

I could see a Marauder maybe being picked for specific Iron Will builds or certain dual totem builds, but that is a very small amount of builds and the Marauder is still questionable even then. But for a BoR block type build, Mara is still pretty solid. Small differences for a build like that.

Iron Reflex nerf hurt Duelist. That's why it's the most under represented class. Marauder can still be tanky as hell.

Don't ever bring all those +%Max Res back, it was OP as fuck before, there's a reason it got removed.

@Topic:
Marauder side sucks ever since they fucked up the Intelligence Nodes up, together with even the Dexterity Nodes now.
Bows is the big shit in Beyond, obviously Ranger would be the hotshit.
Witch is overall just way too good, no clue why they made her tree so much better than it already was.

A single one 1% node wouldn't be game breaking.

So why Play Marauder?

Max res isn't only used to run RF. It can be used to... have better suvivability against elemental attacks.
