Master quest reference

FFS guys, stop failing my missions.

General notes:
  • You do not actually have to begin the quest by talking to the master, to complete the quest for experience. In cases where the master spawns his quest objectives, only one party member technically has to start the quest.
  • If a daily quest instance expires before the quest is done, you do not get to retry.
  • Leveling up a master does not reset his daily quest.

Elreon
After the quest is officially started, Elreon is untargetable. Party members without the quest text will have to either be told or infer it from context.

There are only 3 mission variants:
  • Defend the relic(s) for 1 minute.
  • Defend the relic(s) until enemies stop spawning.
  • Feed souls to the relic(s) *note that mobs must be killed INSIDE the circles.
  • Kill the corrupted relic(s) within the time limit.

Failure conditions: failed to defend relic (it died), failed to kill all corrupted relics within time limit.
Haku
Quests may or may not be time-limited. Always some variant of find the Karui spirit and then bring it to the exit.

  • Final boss, when such exists, is either a necro or a totem. It has to be killed before picking up the spirit.
  • Movement skills (eg. leap slam, whirling blades) will drop the spirit; cyclone does not count for this.
  • Note that sometimes you meet unkillable totems on the path. Too bad, deal with it.
  • Also, Bad Things start happening when you pick up the spirit.

Failure condition: failed to return spirit within time limit. That's it.
Tora
All missions will be either
  • Hunt down the infected beasts.
  • Find the infected beasts' den.

with some tracking involved by
  • automatic
  • the corrupted monsters' corpses
  • pools of corrupted blood

Tracking doesn't seem to work perfectly at time of writing, but it's no big deal to just brute force it. If you haven't started the quest by talking to Tora, tracking will not work for you, period, but you can complete the quest anyway.

There are no failure conditions on Tora missions.
Catarina
Missions are not time limited.

Normal mission: some combination of
  • kill X corrupted monsters (may spawn as live or dead depending on mission)
  • revive X corrupted corpses (may revive as enemy or ally; if enemy, GOTO "kill X")
  • return X corrupted monsters to Catarina

I've never seen these failed, but I think it's theoretically possible to run out of available corpses if allying is involved.

Sculpture mission: Revive a corrupted minion, bring a corrupted minion to the sculpture, kill a corrupted minion.

Failure condition: corrupted minion(s) died before reaching sculpture

Note that when there are allied corrupted minions, they track you as allied summoned minions do, except without the auto snapping on distance. This means don't leave your corpses behind, guys.

Also note that allied corpses tend to spawn large groups of enemy skeletons every so often. And allied minion AI is fight first follow later. This means escort your party's corpses, don't just wait around at their destination.
Vagan
  • Defeat Vagan. *He heals twice, both auto-triggered at reaching a certain %hp. He sometimes has mobs, he brings you into a separate room, and he uses different weapons and skills.
  • Destroy more training dummies than Vagan.

Failure conditions: Vagan not defeated within time limit, Vagan destroyed more training dummies
Vorici
Note that there are no time-limited missions precipitated by talking to Vorici, and also that every party member can talk to him even after someone else has officially started the quest. DO IT. There will be no excuses for lack of reading comprehension.

Kill the target:
  • within the time limit. *time starts when player gets within a certain range of target - yes, even on disconnected rooms.
  • keep all guards alive. *WATCH YOUR AOE.
  • keep at least one guard alive.
  • keep the hostage alive. *the hostage is effectively allied, don't worry about aoe.

Keep the target alive:
  • at low life for 10 seconds. *target goes above 35%, timer disappears, only to restart when target is brought back to low life
  • Kill all the guards
  • Open the target's chest. *Taking any hit will stop the process of opening the chest. Multiple people opening the chest at once will cause a game crash.

Note: after the mission success screen on live-target missions, you can kill the target.

Failure conditions: something dies when it isn't supposed to. Or time runs out. Usually the former though.
Zana
Note that some of Zana's missions spawn one portal per player in the instance, rather than the six default portals. Therefore, DO NOT start a Zana mission until the entire party is present.

These missions may be time-limited:
  • Kill the Corrupted Boss.
  • Kill the corrupted monsters. *if a strongbox spawns corrupted monsters, they will be added to the quest count; corrupted monsters are not accounted in /remaining.
  • Slay the Rogue Exiles. *Zana will force 2 exiles to spawn, on top of whatever the map would have had. If it had spawned an exile normally, there will be 3; if it turned out Anarchic, there will be 4; if both, then 5.
  • Find the Map.
  • Find the unique item.
  • Find the lodestones (10).

This mission is not time-limited:
  • Complete another master's mission.

For time-limited missions, the timer may sometimes be extended by
  • no means, so be fast about it
  • touching the standing stones
  • killing monsters (each monster gives 1 second regardless of rarity, fractured, etc)

Failure conditions: failed to complete objective within time limit, failed to complete other master's quest.

Masters refresh their daily-changing stock the instant you activate the daily quest. You can therefore buy the new items they sell, which might be a Q gem, before you go in the portal.
For Elreon, you missed "Defend the Relic until enemies stop spawning." It's almost the same as the timed one, but it sometimes stops spawning enemies and doesn't complete - this means you need to hunt down 1 or 2 enemies that walked away instead of moving toward the relic.
Yup.
Early in the league I got a Catarina quest to feed souls to corrupted minions as they walk around with you. Not sure if that's still around, I haven't had it for ages.

I got this mission once as well, though I think I never had it post patch 1.2.

Also dude, worth noting that Vegan doesnt always have a time limit, he sometimes has mobs, he brings you into a separate room, and he uses different weapons and skills. :P

also, is Vorici's timed mission really 1 min? I saw 45 seconds and 30, but never 1 minute.
Better stay in the land of the damned, Exile. Here, even the very words are corrupted by Nightmare.
Fixed that. I'm going to assume the Cata feed souls quest either spawns only at low levels or has been removed. And since I've never seen anything else reverse level gated, it was probably removed. Leaving it off until someone finds one again.

Zana's daily's are annoying as hell. 2 days in a row she created a map with both reflect ele and phyiscial on it. Completed them but hell of a hard time doing so dying at least twice.
IGN: Munkehboi
Vorici's target timer does not start when the target is spotted on the mini-map. It starts when you get within a certain range of the target, which is shorter than mini-map range. This is very easy to demonstrate solo as long as you don't have terrifyingly high movement speed.
Please add that Flicker strike is counted as a movement skill in Haku's missions.

One of the things that I have noticed now that I have Elreon to level 6 is that the Defend the Relic quests have become seemingly impossible to complete solo....
This is due to Grind Gear patching in the new, and annoying, Corrupted Incinerators which form a circle around the relic, and continuously blast away at it, and lighting the ground on fire while exploding units run in and blow.
This makes it so that you are ALWAYS standing in fire, and cannot stop the kamikaze units from hitting the relic.
Any advice for a melee character to deal with this, or should I just abandon the mission when it says Defend the Relic??
