Odd Occurence whilst playing Win 8.1

Hi, whilst i'm playing PoE i sometimes get a weird half freeze of the game, to explain -
a)Sound from windows like a usb devuce was unplugged or notification or something - BUT b)I can keep moving and using mouse spells - though when this happends i cannot pick up any items dropped, I will try and capture it on some video if it prevails. c) I cannot alt-tab(to try and see what is making the freeze), ESC doesn't work to open the options menu neither do any other keyboard commands like open inventory for a about 20+ seconds. It has happened a few times, once i managed to get to the desktop intime and kaspersky wanted an update but i did that, i have heard two different sounds when it happens one a solo beep and the other is 3 beeps of different pitch. I tried to find a way to see what is going on but the action centre doesn't give me any help, i did read some ASUS program could cause this but that disabling "Away Mode" in AI3 resolved it which have done but this hasn't helped. I have played POE for quite a while and not experienced this since the patch, I am also experiencing a LOT more desync since the patch but i think the two are related. Is there anyway if it happens again to find out exactly what is causeing this? Or does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? Anyone had the same problem? Thanks in advance! Hey hardmuncle,
Can you try running a WinMTR to your preferred gateway next time you have the issue 'b)' where you cannot pick up items? Do you use a wireless keyboard? Do you run any external programs while running Path of Exile? Additionally, be sure to check all your devices are fully up-to-date. Need Support? support@grindinggear.com.

Hi, no i dont use any wireless items, i do use a mac keyboard with usb ports on it which my mouse is connected to but i dont see any issues with that it has always worked fine, I have downloaded the program and next time it happens i will run that program and post the results. I will also try to capture some video of what happens.

You need to let it capture more than 4 seconds... about 5 minutes is usually good, and it should also be run before/while you experience the issue you reported. It can't be run AFTER you have symptoms because it's too late then.

Ah ok, sorry, i thought it just saw what route my pc took to your servers, im not the most technical when it comes to net connectivity beyond my own router lol. I did it because i have been expericing a lot of desync (more than usual) but i understand that desync is part and parcel of the PoE experience, i wasn't aware i had to let it run for a while I will do it if I experience the problems again. So far tonight its been fine other than the excessive desync but i dont really think thats fixable and might be down to high usage at the moment possibly.
I opened the ports suggested in another thread on my router to try and make it better, is there anything else my end i can be doing other to try and reduce desync? Sorry for going off topic, but while im here in technical i thought i'd ask, again thanks for your help its very much appreciated! |

" No matter which type of character you play, ALWAYS press Shift to attack to prevent "movements". If you're playing a Melee character, try to avoid movement-based melee abilities (like cyclone, flicker strike, leap slam, etc). Try not to run through packs of creatures, and try not to run too close to things that could cause your character to become "stuck" on it temporarily .. IE, give doorways, bridges, obstacles, etc... a wide berth. | |

Still no idea if these results are normal or not. Thanks. ps- I always use the stand on spot key, i dont know how people play without using it tbh lol, i find i have to use it maybe its from playing other games have conditioned me lol! |

As I said before, desync isn't really related to network, and there is nothing wrong with your trace.
