Is returning even worth it at this point?

I was considering a return to the game after a six month break for the 1.2 update, but it seems that most of the builds, especially the cheaper ones, have been nerfed to hell. It also seems that the game now requires even godlier gear just to compete on the most basic level. And since I don't have much in terms of gear or currency, I'm just wondering if it's even worth the comeback?

1. If you play solo/party and don't give a hoot about others, you can play the game.

2. If you want to play a stock-market-simulator on Standard, you can play the game.

3. If you want to start playing and instantly compare yourself with others on your league, don't play the game.
Yes, it is. The first thing to do to enjoy PoE is to never visit the forums.

I get that it's ridiculous to compete with anyone, especially end game players, but the cost of entry shouldn't be so high. I mean, I've jumped into this games several times in the past, and after a couple of hours, I'd usually find a build that works. But now it seems that every build I come across requires 300ex, or some other crazy amount of currency/gear.

I don't need to compete with those top tier players, but I'd like to be able to play a toon that can at least perform adequately with a crappy starting point (i.e. BROKE).

EDIT: and it seems that 1.2's nerfed even those ridiculously expensive builds

True but most of my posts were during the olden days. That said, that is how I know to stay far away from the forums. I cannot be saved but others can.

Dont pretend post counts have anything to do with how much someone plays. Besides, its a petty stalkerish thing to do, checking other peoples psot counts.

No not if you had existing characters or care if GGG ruins all your builds at the start of every league.
Come on in. The water is fine (if you start in the new leagues). In the legacy leagues, you are indeed wasting your time.
