Path of Exile has three attributes, around which we have placed the character classes. All six character classes have been announced.
Strength (Red): The Marauder
Strength confers raw brute power, and is represented on weapons by high base damage. Strength armor pieces grant physical damage reduction. Monsters aligned with Strength generally hit hard and take many blows to defeat. Our announced Strength character class is the Marauder.
Dexterity (Green): The Ranger
Dexterity confers agility in combat, and is represented on weapons by faster attack speeds. Dexterity armor pieces grant the ability to evade enemy blows more often. Monsters aligned with Dexterity are nimble and difficult to hit, often attacking from a distance or with multiple weapons. Our announced Dexterity character class is the Ranger.
Intelligence (Blue): The Witch
Intelligence confers knowledge – of both arcane magic and deadly combat techniques. It is represented on weapons through improved critical strikes. Intelligence armor pieces grant the wearer a mystical energy shield which protects them from blows and can recharge when they are out of combat. Monsters aligned with intelligence are often weak spell-casters who can be dangerous if not immediately dealt with. Our announced Intelligence character class is the Witch.
Strength/Dexterity: The Duelist
The Duelist is a hybrid character class that excels at both Strength and Dexterity skills.
Strength/Intelligence: The Templar
The Templar is aligned with both Strength and Intelligence.
Dexterity/Intelligence: The Shadow
The Shadow is aligned with both Dexterity and Intelligence.
Characters, monsters and items can also be aligned with multiple attributes at once. For example, a staff weapon is generally about 70% strength and 30% intelligence. It differs from a maul (which could be 100% strength) because it is better at scoring critical strikes, but doesn't hit for as much raw physical damage.
There are three playable “hybrid” character classes in Path of Exile: The Duelist, the Templar and the Shadow.
Players can use any items or skills, providing they have enough of the relevant attribute requirements. There is the flexibility to dabble in unaligned attributes in order to use off-class skills and items. However, it is generally more efficient for players to invest in the attributes appropriate to their character class.

The Jack of All Trades, master of none class.
The Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity Hybrid Class. It gives more class options and well, it just makes sense to be on that diagram they have. The middle just seems blank and needs a portrait in it. |

Totally agree, a STR/DEX/INT Hybrid is sure something very interesting to see in this game with all the customization possibilities the character seem to have. If the passive trees are well built there shouldn't be many balance issues either so +1

I really would like to see the master of none class be viable, itd be so hard to balance though. Maybe make it healer?
The purpose of argument should not be victory, but progress.

A class which has knowledge of all but also is master on none, sounds like punishing to play.
I would love to see a much more differention within the 3 classes probably another 3 within each class showing the different sides of these pure breed classes. Might give alot of variation at least in the future play. |

It'd be interesting to see someone who could shift roles depending on the situation - the bard of many games. The game seems to have the flexibility for it with skills, stats, and equipment already.

7th class str/dex/int? that would be a mistake. not good enough with particular path sounds like sth unnecessary. gosh, this is mmo, each class must be great dps.
for me there is one option. it will be someone who stand aside and cast only buffs/debuffs, maby healer. but game alone with that car will be agony... |

Class in centr = option "Create your OWN" from Oblivion :)).

Then you'd have to create an 8th class, Master of ALL

Call him "The Undecided", or something like that, cause he would be more of a bystander than anything else compared to the main classes and if he is going to be able to do everything he can't really be given a class seeing as the game is about being exiled for one reason or another from a specific group.
Make his main stat gain slightly worse than the other classes, so that he can't really just go strength and be as strong as a Marauder, and the secondaries stats slightly better so that he can use just about anything as he levels. From the little I have read something like 5 to the main Stat and 3 to the other two for whatever skills he chooses might work. And you don't need a master of all seeing as you have a master of every other path available and mastering everything on one guy would be pointlessly annoying, or impossible, to use fully with the 8 attacks available at one time. Sorry, but I don't care, if
-I post something useless -I don't use then/than or there/their properly, I don't try to anyway. I'm really bored. |

I came into this thread with the intention of saying something along the lines of "7? why not 8 or 109?" But I have to admit you have quite a valid point with 3 way hybrid.
With the class system based so heavily on 3 talent pools it makes sense that some players would want to try and make a character that dabbles in all 3, not saying that it wouldn't a challenging build, but its something we should have the option of trying. I think the term master of none though isn't the best term as the comment why not master of all demonstrated. This class wouldn't be a master of none more of an all rounder. As saying why not a master of all is basically the same thing as saying master of none in terms of this games class system, they would in essence be the same potienal build. Overall I'm liking your idea, just wonder if its a possibility at this stage of the games development as I'm guessing some additional balancing would need to be implented in order to accomidate such a character. The first rule of fight club is.... wear a cup!
